But let me emphasize, they are
white, old men. Notice how Steve Carrel (sp?) gets an award for Foxcatcher but Channing Tatum (a white old man's worst nightmare since they probably feel he's a tool) gets snubbed completely when he gave an amazing performance and had a just as big of a role as Carrel.
Notice how they love American Sniper so much because it has a war theme and supports war and patriotism essentially which is a value old white men enjoy since that's their generation's big thing.
They only pick what appeals to them and after that, it's just a toss up honestly.
