They get what they want either way here. If the prisoner is not released, they kill Kenji which I'm sure they want to do. If the prisoner is released, they get her which they also want.

However, the latter option is also beneficial to Kenji and his family & friends.

They want her because she is a former al-Qaeda terrorist. There's no hidden motive behind this. As you saw with the release of Bowe Bergdahl (even though I didn't agree with it), terrorists are willing to do prisoner exchanges.

One prisoner exchange does not mean that you "lose all power." That doesn't make any sense at all.

Some Arab country should just colonize Iraq and put the country under military regime.. They're all Arabs anyway so it wouldn't make a difference. That's the solution to the problem over there.
