Why is he releasing songs from his debut album and not songs from Storyline? And what was his first UK single? Wanted?

No, he wouldn't dare to release a pop mix in US radios or else the country stations would sabotage him.

But Wanted had a Pop mix (which is why it ended up on the Billboard Hot 100 year end chart in 2012 and 2013) and that was his debut single and then had other hit country singles
