Ellie Goulding was shocked over Jessie J snub
Quote:
Ellie Goulding has admitted that she was surprised to hear that Jessie J didn’t manage to bag a Brit Award nomination.
Like the rest of us, the Love Me Like You Do hitmaker expected to see the mega-talented Jessie J up for a few awards, especially following her amazing success with Bang, Bang, but she was snubbed from the list.
Speaking ahead of the event, which will take place at London's O2 Arena on February 25 - because her "incredible" voice is one of the best in the world.
She said: "I was surprised by that because she's an incredible pop star.
"It sounds weird saying that, but she is. She nails it and she still has one of the most incredible voices in the world. So that shocked me. But I don't know how the voting works!"

It was a good riddance, she didn't deserve a nomination with Sweet Talker or Bang Bang

I'm not.
Luv Jessie but she only had one successful single (backed with 2 bigger acts). The rest of her singles flopped. So did her album.

Sweet Talker may have been snubbed for a reason, but come on, Bang Bang was one of the biggest singles this year and you can't deny that because charts, sales and critical acclaim speak for for themselves.

The nominated songs (British Single) were much bigger than Bang Bang in UK that came from albums with much more acclaim.

2 bigger acts in US, but definitely not UK. Even though UK kind of abandoned Jessie J after Alive era, but she is still bigger than both Ariana and Nicki in UK. Nicki is yet to score a number one single, and Ariana has only one number one single, meanwhile Jessie J... well, she's one of the biggest British artists in 10s.
And "the rest of her singles" argument is invalid, because Burnin' Up deservedly flopped due to it being mishandled - it was released along with the album, it wasn't put on a pre-order before the album's release, and during the album's release week when Burnin' Up was released as a single she mainly performed Bang Bang on the shows. Burnin' Up got only one performance on MOBO Awards, and you know damn well that they are not as popular as they used to be. And Jessie's third UK single Masterpiece is yet to be released.

I fail to understand why Ellie even thought Jessie would be nominated in the first place.

Do you have problems with reading or? She obviously understands what a true talent is and that Jessie deserved to get at least one nomination for one of the great things that she had achieved in the past year.

I don't recall her achieving anything other than boosting the popularity of Ariana and Nicki and appearing as an outsider on her own song

Yeah, she is a bigger name but she's a bigger name based on her past successes rather than her current success. The BRITS is celebrating the past year in music and Jessie's past year has been pretty uneventful and she is pretty unpopular right now in the UK.
Sure her singles after Bang Bang were mishandled but The BRITS aren't going to take pity on Jessie for that. They don't care for the excuses and the bottom line is that those singles flopped and made little to no impact with their viewers. They want to nominate someone that is exciting and riding some hype, and right now Jessie is on a slippery downward slope.

I personally think Jessie should have estabilished herself first in the UK and focused in that area. Now the huge success she had with her debut has faded there. Idk, that's how I feel.

She scored a number one single and a Top 5 album in UK, managed to release her album in US as well where it debuted in the Top 10 as well as a single that reached Top 3 and became a huge hit all around the world in 2014. Stop trying it, because it's not working out for you with your transparency.

+1 like Nicki has been able to get a #3 single after Bang Bang and My Everything / Problem outdid Sweet Talker / Bang Bang in UK. Who was driving the song's success wasn't Jessie.
