Asked why they were not having sex, 21.3 per cent of the married men claimed they were too fatigued after work while 15.7 per cent replied that they were no longer interested in sex after their wives gave birth.

Among the women, 23.8 per cent said sex was "bothersome" and 17.8 blamed being tired from work.

My friend from Japan said that the decline is because a lot of young adults don't want the responsibility of having a child.

Maybe this is the reason for not having sex as well. Contraceptives and protection are there but maybe they're scared of unexpected pregnancy as well

If the birthrate slides fast there will be a significantly large population of older Japanese people in a few years that the youth won't be able to support.

Yeah, for the planet as a whole, it's good if anything that a lot of people aren't having offspring, but for Japan specifically they're going to have problems in the future if they're not getting more babies born into their country.

Because Japan is dealing with an aging population. You need young people to keep the economy from collapsing. It's a problem when almost 35% of your nation is over 60.

This is actually a pretty serious issue for them. The same could happen in Europe, but thanks to immigration they don't have to worry about this for a while.

and for those who says it's good to have a decline population, no it's not good for Japan. Population is one of the biggest economic drives. With a dying population, they will have a huge shortage in labors AND buying forces in the next few years.
