Anyways it's not the shooter's fault they decided to break into his house without a warrant. Anyone would shoot upon seeing some burly man with a gun breaking down your door.

The blame falls solely upon the person who made the prank call.

That's interesting, to say the least, but - though I'm no legal expert - they really should have gotten a warrant rather than simply breaking in, since no evidence of any bomb was ever found at the location claimed to be a target.

If they didn't announce who they were and just broke in my house I would do the same thing. I don't think in a situation as fluid as that you are given a chance to think about whether the guy you are shooting is black or white.
