This is what her new music is supposed to sound like? Since when? What happened to Machine Gun Love and rock music?

I'd be much more interested in that than this "electro-indie" track from some random guy I never heard of. The vocals are pretty thin and those effects during the second verse and onward are terrible.

If this is the direction she chooses to pursue on her album, I'll be disappointed.

There's no indication that it is - it's not an official release, and if it was on her album it would have been taken down/the producer would have been contracted not to share it.
