From what I can remember, 2009. Everyone and their mother was stirring controversy that year, and it was a pretty entertaining and shocking year as far as pop culture goes.
-The massive growth of social media, particularly Facebook
-MJ's tragic death
-The Kanye/Taylor incident at the VMA's
-The major Tiger Woods scandal
-Jon & Kate Plus 8
-Gaga's massive peak
-Octomom
-That horrible couple who pretended to send their kid in a blimp and shut down a major airport
-Whitney Houston's (temporary) comeback
-Jersey Shore debuting on television
-Charlie Sheen getting arrested for attempted murder
-Susan Boyle
-The heroic pilot who landed a plane in the Hudson and got everyone out safe
-The Chris Brown/Rihanna incident
-The year we basically cemented the internet era
Seriously, every week there was something new that everyone was talking about or trying out, and it was something I'm not sure we'll ever recreate.
For pop culture, 2007 if you wanna use the celebrity-tabloid overkill, with the invention of the iPhone and mainstream growth of Facebook, while MySpace was still big. Other than that, probably 2013 with Miley and the Kardashians.
Of course people on here would say Gaga's peak
So you think that what Miley did in 2013 was more eventful than the meat dress, the beginning of the BTW era, the death of MJ, Whitney?? girl, please.
I think 2009 - 2011 then everything went downhill
I still remember about this I don't think that any pop girl had a moment like this, I was crying at this moment I felt like I was winning too, all my friends on twitter were excited now most of them have moved on about Gaga and it's sad
the year 2000 for sure. Everything was evolving, music, celebs tech was all changing really fast. I remember cell phones were the big new thing and pop was HUGE.
