People who visit or live in Africa, often describe this longing and melancholy for wanting to come back, like Africa exercises some kind of power over people. Books and movies that describe this are Heart of Darkness, the Sheltering Sky, Out of Africa, etc.









Why does Africa have this mysterious power? Discuss.

Heart of Darkness isn't a good example of longing for Africa it's more about longing for power over people whose civilization is not as advanced. It's about colonial European arrogance.

yes, but maybe they want to go back to nature and animals and wilderness? and get out of the craziness?

It has lions and ephelants and giraffes and rich soil and nice landscape and less civilization.

But I wouldn't live there because I wouldn't feel comfortable.

Well my mom is from Africa, Angola to be more precise and she refuses to go back there, me and my dad are trying to convince her for a lot of time to go on vacations there but she doesn't want to, bad memories perhaps
