MJ seems bigger now, but maybe is because he's more recent and he reached another peak in 2010 (comparable with the Thriller peak) with his dead. I mean, in 2014 he had another posthumous hit in "duet" with one of the most relevant US artists ![deadbanana2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/bananas/deadbanana_zps933fcf47.gif) Of course he would be that remembered now.
So it's a tie for Elvis/MJ to me in Global reach.
|
Elvis didn't sell in as many markets as MJ, partly due to the era of music he was popular in and also because MJ had the Thriller phenomenon that gave him popularity essentially in any indexed market in the world (and beyond, he's extremely popular in North Korea ![deadbanana2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/bananas/deadbanana_zps933fcf47.gif) ). Both are obviously top-rung acts, but someone was claiming Elvis was more global and I was simply pointing out he was more successful in the US, whereas MJ was more successful WW.

My country doesn't have an official music chart so I'll divide Into two categories:
In term of music:
1. Britney Spears (thanks to oops I did it again and from the bottom of my broken heart and most of her ballads are pretty popular here but song like baby one more time is almost unknown ![Bibliotheque](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/biblio_zps23dff242.gif) )
2. Celine Dion (thanks to my heart will go on and because you loved me)
3. Mariah Carey (thanks to without you)
In term of media:
Britney Spears (1998 - 2009)
Justin Bieber
Beyoncé

Not RBD ![deadbanana2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/bananas/deadbanana_zps933fcf47.gif) You have Maná for God's sake ![Bibliotheque](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/biblio_zps23dff242.gif) Even Molotov, Paulina Rubio, Thalía and Belinda are bigger than them!

Molotov is not that big outside of Mexico. Paulina Rubio and Belinda were pretty global though. Thalia has her telenovelas but music-wise she wasn't that big. None of them were as popular in Brazil and Eastern Europe as RBD though. (Oh and I hate Maná I don't think they're popular outside Latin America and Spain anyway) ![Matty](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/matty_zps1f953843.gif)

for Canada its probably Celine Dion (and rightfully so) but some random ppl will argue that Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Carly Rae, Nickleback, Avril Lavigne, Drake and a ton of others r bigger.

All the childish bands (the original RBD Rebelde Way, Chiquititas, Floricienta, Teen Angels, Violetta, Patito Feo, etc.) from my country are popular in those countries like Poland and extremely popular on Israel. But 1) they're only known for a specific target public; 2) how can you consider them bigger "artists" than some LEGENDS when they're only noticed because of their TV Show and when their careers only lasts 1-4 years? ![Bibliotheque](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/biblio_zps23dff242.gif) it's like saying Teen Angels >> Soda Stereo in my case ![Bibliotheque](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/biblio_zps23dff242.gif)

I don't think anyone can rightfully name them
I agree with you, Celine wins the Canadian title. Bieber could easily catch her in a few years tho, but not because of his music ![rip](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/rip_zpsec10ede9.gif) Nelly had a good and consistent career, but kinda fade away after Loose. Avril probably had the biggest peak of them (arguably with Bieber) and she's recognized by people in several countries.

Wrongo!
The two Western Acts known according to journalists who entered in 2012 were The Beatles (though each member was unknown individually) and Michael Jackson (though they didn't know he was dead).
We Are The World was also used as the backdrop to a propaganda video the NK Gov't released showing NYC being wiped out with Nuclear Strikes.
MJ is known is North Korea, at least by a proportion of people.

Well, whether we want it or not those artists are global. I think Violetta is more global than Soda Stereo in a sense but I don't want to disrespect King Cerati like that so perhaps I should agree with you. I hate Maná so much though, I can't deal with the fact that they might be my country's most global artist. I'd rather go with the others. ![Matty](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/matty_zps1f953843.gif)
