Quenched MY thirst for the proper Björkliyah hybrid popular music deserved in 2014. Striking some strange unstable balance between uneasiness and full submissive pleasure, like a lot of the best sex but not too much of the best sex music.

Ha, #4 again what's up. Ambiguous and evasive but so so obviously emotionally charged. And the best straight melody I heard all year. Like conjuring the sense of sprinting away from something as fast as you can but looking back over your shoulder every 5 seconds because you know you're gonna miss the thing you're escaping from, but will never be able to come back. Poor On The Run Tour.
3. Flying Lotus f/ Kendrick Lamar - "Never Catch Me"
If this is what dying sounds like...
And THE BEST music video video of the year, hands down.
Makes me cry n smile.
I mentioned how if Two Weeks was the initial showstopper, Pendulum was twigs's assertion that she could thrill us without theatrics. But even as it's in some ways one of her most straightforward songs, it's also maybe the least structured — there's NO regularity to that arrangement, like an actual pendulum swung on an axis of some sort... hard to believe it was (partially) brought about by the same dude who helped with Rolling in the Deep and its cousins. But what holds the whole thing together is a quietly heart-wrenching vocal performance, the most vulnerable moment so far in a career consisting of so many inhuman-seeming ones.
Honestly I wrote a good amount for a lot of these albums, but with 100 of them it's just so much to do when I'm rattling them off so quickly.
This is just more for my own enjoyment / compulsive need to rank things best to worst, but of course if anybody wants like a description of any of these albers or songs or what I liked most about them then I got you for sure.
But anyway, 15 unranked honorable mentions for 2015 (none from last year tho). Waka Flocka Flame Flockaveli
Even after enjoying his Darkside one-off project for a long time, I still only got into Nicolas Jaar after seeing what he looked like, so in case anybody else wants to be inspired.
