Katy is being SMART. She doesn't want her career to fizzle out too fast. She's been extremely successful with her sound and now she can make an album that is a little more "out there" if she chooses. it wont hurt her if it underperforms. not everyone wants to alienate their fanbase in 3 years

Yes she is. And I know crossing over to pop was a risk but pop is the easiest genre to crossover to and get tons of fans from it. That is the only risk she has taken though. She has not made risks such as Rihanna and the good girl gone bad phase. She hasn't done something like Beyonce and made songs like flawless, run the world, if I were a boy, survivor and many others. She hasn't done risks like P!nk with herwhole persona. She is the most safe and I fear that she won't have as big of a legacy if she continues to do this. In her next album she's gonna need to advance her sound, because I feel like people won't be here for her if she continues doing bubble-gum pop.
