I agree and disagree at the same time, I do believe some of the public watching will see him and use him as just another example of an over dramatic, stereotypical gay man, however its those kind of people who are close minded enough to form their opinion on a community based off one person anyway. Whilst it definitely seems damaging and he's a disgusting human being, gay people should not have to adhere to a certain type of behaviour to impress an ignorant audience.

The people trying to say that Michelle is contradicting herself are idiots. Drag Race is a constructive platform that allows trans/gay men to express themselves. Of course these people are dramatic and OTT because they're drag queens for christ sake. They are an extension of the female form and a caricatures of self expressionism.

To be fair, I think the point is the drag queens won't be seen as any different to Perez by these ignorant viewers. I'm not agreeing with it, but I think if she feels Perez is setting us back with his outlandish behaviour then she should feel a similar way about drag queens. Again not my opinion as I don't feel drag race is setting us back but I can see how people could make that connection, no ignorant person is going to let it slide because they're a drag queen.

Perez is vile but i hate comments like this, people should have the brains to set apart individuals and not judge an entire community because of one person, if there are people who are gonna judge us when seeing Perez antics they are brainless and we dont need the approvement of ignorant beings like that.

What you don't realize is that for most of the contestants that go Drag Race, drag is an art for them, they all represent different form of drags and want the world to see that.

Just like most reality shows there will be drama, but the show itself has given the drag community a platform to be visible and let people know that at the end of the day, these people are performers and artist who live for their art.

Michelle is right. I don't think any LBGT person would consider Perez as a representative but he is a well known gay figure and a lot of non-LBGT people will see him as a representative of the gay community especially since he epitomizes every stereotype. I loved Michelle for saying what she said and you can tell she genuinely cares so much. Perez's actions were vile, crude and go beyond just acting foolish and messy.

It's not a position I agree with, either. I love Drag Race and think it's a very progressive show. But it DOES get unfairly criticized a lot for setting the gay community back (particularly, the trans community). So it's surprising that Michelle would turn around and make that same unfair criticism about someone else.
