With Haley, it may be a case of slow and steady wins the race. While "Listen Up!" didn't have huge sales, it was a good album and songs from it were used on television, in advertisements and in a movie.
Because Haley insisted on being part of the process, she has writing credit on 13 of the14 songs. Writers make better royalties than performers.
That album was lucrative enough that her music publisher, Ole, who collects royalties for her as a writer, agreed to back the creation of an EP with new music. While not a traditional label, they're backed by the Ontario Teachers Pension Fund. They've spent $330 million to build their catalog.
Late last year, it was learned Haley is voicing a character in an orininal NetFlix cartoon series called "F is for Family." It's based on the comedy of Bill Burr and his observations of people he knew when he was a child. Haley plays the youngest son in the family, "Bill."
The co-creator of the series is an Emmy-winning writer from The Simpsons -- Mike Price. He tweeted in December, "If you don't know @HaleyReinhart yet, you will!" If the show proves popular, it could prove to be another lucrative income stream for Haley.
