Even my dad is excited about this, omg. I thought he would drag her like he dragged Britney and Celine, but he actually said he would be willing to book a trip to Vegas for the whole family to go see her
Let me go take advantage of his offer

Are people really fighting over Britney and Mariah's residency? First of all Mariah's gig is not even sure to be for a long time, she's filling in for Celine (at least from what I read) till Celine's husband is okay and she's good to comeback. Fighting for who gets the higher pay looks really pathetic since we are not going to see any of those coins that these two are getting. Lemme just perch for a Mimi and Brit picture together, it's been more than a decade since the last one

Mariah's gig will be great I'm sure, and I'd love to see her. But she's the 40 year old has-been after commercial failures (your use of words) in this situation, not Britney/Celine who started in 30s while still being commercially viable. They didn't have articles like "the Mariah problem", or have publications publicly label her a flop over and over. It's a great move, though. Hopefully she read that article. It did state she should do a residency and some notes that could work for her.

Poor you. You weren't informative in least the least bit because I'd always been a huge Celine Dion fan and aware of all that (I even made her ATRL fan base thread). All you accomplished was being a hypothetical, condescending mess. You talk about Mariah being old when she looks 10 year and fresher than Brit-Brit. You talk about commercial failures as if Britney's last two albums and singles haven't been flops and under-performances.
In what world is Britney commercially viable? Who is checking for Britney now? Not 5 years ago, now? As for Britney's lack of success, I guess critics are more interested in why she released toxic waste and labeled it her "most personal album" and why she wasn't singing her songs/dancing in her videos. I mean who can blame them for not criticizing her when the album is really a product made and put out by her managers and other financially involved parties than it is by her. Does she even known anything about her songs other than "they were personal....they were interesting"
You proved my point in that if anyone is impactful for the trend of residency in Vegas, it's Celine. I've been saying that in my past comments but you chose to be blind to the fact. Your problem, not mine.

Mariah's latest album is critically acclaimed... has a higher score than "Title".. speaking of flops.. well.. Mariah fails due to her over-the-top persona and age, not because the music is ****. Mariah's strong suit has always been her music which is always top notch. Glitter only happened because after 15 #1 singles in just a decade, people wanted to see her fail. Up to 2001, she had released 9 consecutive albums selling 3m or better in the US.
Mariah has sold 12m albums since 2000 in the US (on soundscan and with only original albums during the decade).. that's more than most of your faves will sell in their entire careers.
