OK, so let me share a little nugget from 1999. Infini-T were a (very) short-lived attempt at cashing on the early Britney + Max Martin sound/TLC's image in Québec, where I'm from (I was born & raised in Montreal).
This is the video for their only radio hit, 'Si' (means 'If'), and. it. is. hilarious. Especially in the second half! I can't even start making a checklist for all the inane, graphically stale sh** that happens then. You'll have to see for yourselves!
Do you have any other examples of local pop creations/bands made to cash in on a major pop girl sound/aesthetic to share with ATRL? I know there are PLENTY.
For example, french singer Emma Daumas was moderately popular in the early 2000's as well, and the music video for her song 'Figure Humaine' is a blatant rip-off of Avril in her Let Go era.
Funniest thing is, the lyrics to the chorus (''Figurine humaine / Âme conditionnée au succès se déchaîne / Produite à la chaîne / Figurine humaine / Prête à tout pour le devant de la scène / Adulée de tous, pas longtemps jusqu'à la prochaine'') basically translate to:
''Human doll
A struggling soul conditioned for success
Mass-produced
Human doll
Willing to do anything to be front stage
Loved by everyone, but not for long 'til the next one arrives''
And here's the kicker : she was a runner-up on the second season of a massively popular reality show. LULZ!
Mexican singer Belinda also profited from Avril's success back in 2006-7 ish. In this song the looks are similar, the music not that much. The song is flawless though.
Also I love this girl her name is Natalia Lafourcade but sometimes I think she kind of copied Lily Allen. Their music and image is surprisingly similar to pre-Sheezus Lily

the video isn't available over here in Canada but I just googled screencaps from the music video and that damn tutu. i find there are similarities in the way the song is arranged, too. those big pop-rock girl power ballads... let me guess, it was a third single?

you didn't embed properly so i couldn't see which video you posted. but i looked her up too, and if it's 'Ella Es Bonita', then my god this is as shameless as anything i've ever seen.

this is terrible. she's like a mix of the worst parts of J.Lo and teenage dream era Katy
KEEP IT UP Y'ALL. this is great. never thought i'd have such great, pristine examples under ten minutes after posting this thread
are you SURE. you'd have to be blind not to notice it. seriously. i gasped and covered my mouth at how closely it matches Lily's first two eras' style.

3rd single indeed. How did you know?
Either way, i think Belinda was at her best when she was an Avril stan. When Avril went poppier, Belinda started doing her own thing and kinda lost her touch with the Latin American GP. She is kinda just there having hits from time to time. She needs to comeback strong, she is one of our greatest artists
She released this as her first single the era after that
Which was a big hit in my country, but everyone kinda lost the respect they had for her

The lies again, Natalia has this sound since her debut in 2002! and I don't even like her
Let's be clear; When Bey has you shook as an artist, some people do the most desperate things...... Beats change, producers change, and finally, choreography, dancers, and Beyoncé-based dance-numbers appear..
Exhibit 2:
Keyshia Cole's RATCHET album, the rollout, etc.
Exhibit 3: (Really? You borrow Bey's dancers, choreographer, style, aesthetic?)
(I feel like this was actually the Schoolin' Life Video Theme along with some of that 70s-looking shoot we had for 4.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXE_4AKiWrw
