Just after 9/11 I was working with a Syrian Muslim in IT, a little bearded guy named Fadi, he was rather open about his views. I sat right next to him so chatting him up was not a problem, in his view, and I stress his view, because I was not a Muslim, I was therefore sub-human.

So one day I came back to my desk and he was praying by his and I said, "While you’re at it, you better pray your ****ing code works."

That landed me not in HR but the owners office where he said, "Will you please lay off the Muslims." I started that company with 8 people and when this occurred we had over 1000 employees so I had some clout. Being fired was not an option. Looking back I deserved to get in some trouble but the whole sub-human thing rubbed me the wrong way and I let my emotions get the better of me. I have also been called to the owners office where he said, "will you please stop making the HR girls cry."

Inherent sexuality or attraction towards a gender is not a choice, but to carry out actions to calm our sexual urges ARE choices. If we can't tolerate people's choices to follow a religion, why do we expect people to accept our lifestyle choices?

And rationality? You have as much proof that my religion or any other religion is fake as much as I have that it is real and truth. Hence, why it's called "faith".

I wanna say yes but I can't... I know there are extremists in everything but I've yet to see another religion inspire as many terrorists as Islam so it's no. I'm not saying Muslims are bad people but I can't say it's a peaceful religion after everything that's happened.

I don't wanna say that it's not, but sadly Islam has an extremely bad rep, probably more than any religion. I know there are people that are peaceful, unfortunately we don't know of them because of the black cloud that groups like ISIS and terrorists give the religion

I don't paint with broad strokes and to be honest I don’t even blame the guy for thinking that way it was how he was raised all he knew. You could say he needs to adapt but adaption takes time, my parents freaked the **** out when I brought home a black girl from a date, were they bigots, back then yes, 30 years later not at all.

Their parents taught them, it was deeply engrained; it was up to me to reeducate them and put an end to the cycle ignorance.

I think the average person knows most Muslims are not radical but there is ~1.6b of them in the world, or 23% of the population of the entire world is Muslim. So even if 1-3% of them are radicalized that presents a huge problem. The bigger problem yet is the Muslims that are not radicalized but agree with the strict sharia law and won’t denounce the extremists and the others too afraid to stand up at all.

When they do stand up, for example in Iran, we did nothing, they were not holding signs written in English begging other Arab nations to help them they were asking the west and we did nothing.

Literally nothing while they were getting mowed down in the streets.

So if we want moderate Muslims to stand up we better be willing to back them up.

People don't realize that majority of Muslim countries are peaceful. Indonesia, for example, which has the largest Muslim population has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, even much lower than the United States. Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain are all peaceful Muslim nations as well. The violence and terrorism going on in some Muslim countries are caused more by political instability rather than religion and are not representation of Islam.

Almost every religion has its fair share of violence, but compared to most religions, Islam is one of the more peaceful.
