But even out from its popularity and Grammy nom, it's still more critically acclaimed than most popgirl's song today which lyric is meaningless
I said it before, SIO is average, but songs nowadays suck MORE
and Grammy also picks based on popularity too. They're like picking on top 10 which apply their condition. I mean, have you seen 5 unpopular songs in general field?
even when Adele, someone in your sig, won, it's because she's the best among the popular act, NOT ALL music released in that time
I Agreed but..
but had much more popular songs this year and BETTER than sio deserved his nomination
besides I still think the grammy not have much relevance to think of all the major academies ( OSCAR , EMMY , TONY ) quality gmmy is the weakest and most corrupt
I say esta Because everyone here grammy Takes to shine like this And Those defined quality or something : /
PD: grammy in 40 % of the time if the rewards talent more than the commercial
"If the light is off, then it isn't on..."
- Hilary Duff 'So Yesterday'
Actually in context that lyric is pretty succinct.
Quote:
If you're over me, I'm already over you
If it's all been done, what is left to do
How can you hang up if the line is dead
If you wanna walk, I'm a step ahead
If you're moving on, I'm already gone
If the light is off then it isn't on
Bella Thorne's discography is just outright embarrassing on the whole. Her saving grace was that one song with Pia Mia that bopped for like a hot minute.
Generally, I find that the pop stars have okay lyrics - but I notice that when the Swedes get involved, they can really come up with some lyrical ideas that aim directly for the miss side of hit & miss.
Taylor's a stronger songwriter than Katy - but DH is lyrically superior to SIO.
But all the metaphors she used are either wrong, stupid or don't make sense
It's basically just a bunch of 'inspirational' quotes from refrigerator magnets and cheesy greeting cards put into a song.
Every time I see a post from you it's talking about Katy, your avatar + sig

Well I would say Yours lips are moving, venus, TiK ToK (even though I love this song), shake it off, and there are more than a thousand songs I could think of but Im too lazy to list them.
But all the metaphors she used are either wrong, stupid or don't make sense
I don't know, I think the song holds up pretty well in the verses. The one thing that makes no sense whatsoever is the main Dark Horse metaphor. It's clear she's the frontrunner for being his main love interest since she's making herself seem like she's on some Samantha Stephens level **** - she ain't the dark horse, not by a long shot; she's got some otherworldly powers in her arsenal, I doubt these other girls can compare.
Shake It Off is kind of meant to be a catchy self-empowered radio jam, and succeeds in its efforts - but I don't think lyrically it holds the weight DH does. That's not to say Katy is a better songwriter because SIO isn't the best example of Taylor's songwriting whereas DH is one of Katy's stronger tracks.
I remember a member on here said that it sounded like a bonus track from a Japanese edition written by someone for whom English is a third or fourth language. trudat.
Ppl point at Taylor's songs yet she's acclaimmed with her lyric, while their sig mention singers who sings cheap sex lyric
Shake It Off have average lyric yet we know most songs out there right now talks about sex, penis, so I'm not surprised that SIO is nominated for Grammy's SOTY, because your fave has more trashy lyric
i'm gonna take a wild guess and say English isn't your first language
