Meghan Trainor had a huge hit with her curvy girl-empowerment for women anthem, “All About That Bass,” but now the 21-year-old is worried her career may already fizzle out, Dish Nation has exclusively learned.
“Meghan hit the market at the perfect time, sort of filling the void left by Adele‘s absence on the music scene,” a music insider revealed.
“2014 was a great year for mainstream to really start embracing a more voluptuous figure on women in the scene and for once the skinny models were out. Meghan had the perfect look and the perfect sound with ‘All About That Bass.’”
But now, according to the insider, Trainor is worried that her second single didn’t do quite as well as her first and her career might be over before it even began.
“Everyone knows Adele is planning to drop a new album sometime this year and it has Meghan terrified,” the source dished.
“Her second single hasn’t done as well and she’s terrified she’ll just be a one-hit-wonder.”
In fact, the source says “All About That Bass” was first offered to Adele, who turned it down.
“Meghan admires Adele greatly and has no beef with her, it’s just that in a cut-throat industry like music…Meghan knows she’s not as talented as Adele. She’s hoping her added rapping skills will keep her set apart,” the insider continued.
“Meghan has to take what she can get and capitalize on everything she can right now.”
As Dish previously reported, even collaborators on Adele’s much-anticipated third album have been kept in the dark about the release date.
“We did three great songs together. I assume something will be on there. They’re really quality, great stuff,” songwriter Diane Warren exclusively told Dish last year.
“Epic Records believes fiercely in Meghan though, and as long as her self-doubt doesn’t take hold there’s a chance she could have a decent career,” the insider concluded.
“She will never be an Adele. But she needs to be just as confident being herself. She needs to practice what she’s preaching!”
