D'Angelo, Future Islands Top 2014's Pazz & Jop Poll
Once again, for the late girls:
Quote:
Pazz & Jop is an annual poll of musical releases compiled by American newspaper The Village Voice. The poll is tabulated from the submitted year-end top ten lists of hundreds of music critics.
Pazz & Jop was introduced by The Village Voice in 1974 as an album-only poll, but was expanded to include votes for singles in 1979. Music critic Robert Christgau (FAWTHA of this crit ****) created and presided over the Pazz & Jop poll from its inception in 1971 to 2005.
(Past album winners include Michael Jackson's Thriller, Nirvana's Nevermind, and most recently, Kanye West's Yeezus.)

Hm at the songs list. I knew there wasn't going to be a mainstream song at number one (first time this decade), considering there really wasn't one clear-cut zeitgeist capturing song last year that was also good (which will pretty much always cinch the top spot), but I'm surprised at the number of mainstream songs that still cracked the Top Ten.
Yas @ Charli. Her second P&J Top Ten

Seasons (Waiting On You) is literally one of the best songs I've heard in 2014, so it's no surprise for me.

Wow Taylor with BS + SIO
Wasn't sure where D'angelo was going to place, but I'm not surprised he topped it!

I wish last year's was this late so Bey-self-titled could've snatched like D'Angelo did.

Why did I just find out about this finally being posted?
Great albums list, weird singles list. I agree with their #1 single though. Seasons is such a fantastic song.
