Cause it's a good song...
However, it has very minimal impact, which the Navy fails to see

We found love is a perfect pop song, perfect video at the time where EDM was at its peak and Rihanna/Calvin did it better than anyone else.

Because it happened at the height of the dancepop, post-chorus EDM breakdown era, and it just so happens to be the best example of that style that was released in that era.

We Found Love?

This one is truly a mystery. A basic, watered down, and radio-ready EDM pop song with no substance whatsoever. The lyrics are uninspired and meaningless; she repeats "We found love in a hopeless place" until it becomes nauseating. Not only that, but the instrumental is literally the same two notes over and over and over again. Can the song be more basic? I suppose it gets points for having a dance break and being a huge radio hit, but that can't be the reason why it smashed.... So I'm at a loss.

EDIT: I suppose Rihanna's name helped it smash.
