This. I only know her sing that goes my life's just fine. So I guess globally, Rih & the other one in the states.

Thread is about impact. Almost every single R&B/Pop/Urban artist has cited Mary as a Major influence. Even Ariana sampled her on "Lovin' It"

What even prompted this comparison?!
Mary has far more impact in music, from RnB to Hip-Hop to soul to Gospel, she's had more impact than any of these modern pop girls in music.
Looking at it from a pop culture perspective though, I think Rihanna has the bigger impact.

I would disagree. Even in the pop state, Rih hasn't made concrete impact yet the way Mary has.

Rihanna obviously, no one knows Mary outside the states, quite literally.

Yes they do, LOL. She has a global hit with U2 (One), and this has nothing to do with being known outside a country. It's about IMAPCT in terms of music.
What's the 411? or My Life by Mary have both been included in hundreds "Best albums of all time" list.

Neither have had a huge impact so far.

Mess. Not when any Urban/R&B artist you can think of has cited her as a major influence.

Rihanna - she has a bigger scope of influence and shows more promise when their ages and respective careers are taken into consideration.

Mary's scope surpasses is bigger than Music lol. Her music has gotten through women (and people tbh) through literally every situation. As I previously, stated Mary's debut & sophomore albums are revered and iconic albums. Pure works of art.

Mary has influenced more than just Soul/R&B singers.
