Whether or not someone does it because they don't like being dark is none of our business though.

I find it odd that people condemn dark-skinned people for wanting to be lighter and claim that they ONLY want to do it because lighter is more attractive (and can you blame them? That is true in society, the lighter you are the more attractive you are. That's the way the world works). Yet fair-skinned people don't get condemned for wanting to be darker and nobody claims that they harbor self-hatred due to them being white like Casper. How do you know they don't hate themselves too? Why is it that light skinned people can do whatever they want to their hair/eyes/skin/whatever and not be blamed for being a self-hating house slave, but dark skinned people can't do the same?
Note, I'm not advocating bleaching or not bleaching either way: do what you want with your body as long as you love the outcome. I think the bigger problem with bleaching is that it's known to be unhealthy for your skin. But I'm moreso playing devil's advocate, as I think this is a really interesting topic. And it baffles me as to why there is such a double standard here.
