There are some civil versions of Christianity, Catholicism and Judaism that I wouldn't categorize as dangerous and preposterous. I consider the exploration of your spirituality a respectful quest so long as you respect everyone else's right to pursue their lives as they wish just like you did.
Maher might have let some of his emotions take over him, but the point still stands: no religion has the right to censor anyone, much less kill anyone who criticizes/satirizes any belief or ideology.
Why do they specifically have to speak out against it though? No one calls for Christian leaders to speak up when a religious nut blows up an abortion clinic or kills a doctor.
Yes, and "moderate" Christians should be held accountable for that too.

What a crock of ****. Atheism does not encourage violence. It is simply a lack of belief in a higher power. However, most major religions throughout the world and throughout history have. Also, scanned through a little more of their channel, lots of creationist videos. Sis...
I agree with him when it comes to most big organized religions. Obviously not every religious individual is a terrorist, but plenty still believe that whole communities will go to hell for the silliest things and at the same time turn a blind eye to rules stated in the same passage or whatever so that it benefits their lifestyle. Just because they've helped people, doesn't mean that the biggest religions aren't be problematic and shouldn't be called out. Religion can state that 'you'll go to hell for this', but non-religious people can't criticize? It doesn't work that way.
