The fourth installment of "High School Musical" will return the franchise back to where it started: the Disney Channel.

Featuring a new cast, the "High School Musical 4" telepic is scheduled to begin production later this year and premiere on Disney Channel in 2010.

Peter Barsocchini, who wrote the first three installments, returns as screenwriter. Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush are also back as executive producers. Disney Channel did not say whether Kenny Ortega would return as director.

They had to leave it like that. It was a perfect ending. I will only see this if Ashley appears in it. Wich is possible cuz in the ending of HSM3 Ms. Darbus says she will be back to help w/ the drama club

If the movie has a new cast it will flop without a doubt.

That sh!t just doesn't work...guess they will find out the hard way.

Have you seen the 3rd one yet?

The third one is flawless. The first and second were actually really really really really cheap compared to the 3rd one.

They had a big budget and you can tell because the 3rd had a lot more money poured into it. I was shocked at the change in the movie. Instead of a boring song they danced too in the past two films, they completely had a new background and had a new scenery. They had a lot more props to use and it was just breathtaking.

I was astonished by how good HSM3 was. Don't judge til you've seen it.

^The story was even more corny than the first two.

I didn't watch the storyline, I was too amazed and astonished at how well budgeted it increased from the past two.

The past two, it was hard NOT to pay attention to the plot, but in the third, I was basically just in "aw" state at the effects and choregraphy.

But thinking about it, yeah, the whole storyline was about another play? And how Vanessa was going to a college not near Zac? Hmmm....

I loved all of them but visually HSM3 was definitly the best.
I loved the first one cuz well it was the start and is really fun
And the second one i loved it too, its based on my Tizz

And the visual's in "I Want It All"

There is no need for a 4th one cause its only gonna show all new characters and it just wouldn't be the same. HSM3 was the best out of the three and i'm glad they ended it that way. The only one I can see returning to HSM4 is Ashley because she'll be helping with the drama department.

I'm also glad how the storylines all played off
HSM - the beginning of Troy and Gabriella's relationship and singing careers
HSM2 - the struggle in the relationship; the jealousy in Sharpay for not having Troy and them two together doing a duet; Ryan seperating himself from his sister
HSM2 - college plans and the future of Troy and Gabriellas relationship
