Barbie Blank appears on Dance Moms, and has a special interview with Lifetime
538 Words
To promote her single ‘Tech Freak’ and soon-to-be-released album even further, Barbie Blank has appeared on an episode of the hit reality show, Dance Moms, as a guest dance instructor.
“Being on Dance Moms was a fun experience. All of the girls are polite, and, unbelievably, the moms and Abby were very polite as well. Lifetime was also kind enough to help me promote my single.”
Lifetime aired the Tech Freak once during every commercial break.
“I’ve never really been on that many reality television shows, so of course I jumped on the opportunity. Over the years I’ve really practiced on my dancing too, so, why not?”
During the episode, Barbie did multiple things with the girls, mom, and Abby. All of which will be covered in this article.
At the beginning of the episode, Abby revealed the pyramid, announced who would be doing solos, and all of the usual opening-of-the-episode stuff. After that, she introduced that she would be bringing in a guest choreographer, that choreographer was one and only Barbie Blank.
Barbie choreographed a simple acrobatic solo for Mackenzie. Drama ensued between Abby and Barbie due to the simplicity of the dance, but eventually they settled their differences after a few tweaks and adjustments to the choreography and stage costume.
“I’m not a choreographer, so I guess I should’ve known my place. I did do gymnastics for ten years though, so acro is right in my ball park. I let her perfect the routine and everything else and we were set.”
Mackenzie ended up placing 3rd overall in her division with Barbie’s choreographed routine.
The episode had 2.1 millions U.S viewers and did a decent job of promoting Barbie’s single. An exclusive interview, that was unlocked by confirming your purchase of Barbie’s single was also uploaded onto myLifetime.com.
Lifetime: Any confirmation on a release date for your album?
Barbie: Like I say to everyone who asks, I don’t know yet. I mean, I just started my music career so everything is already moving too fast. It will be released when the time is right.
Lifetime: Is the music video for Tech Freak filmed?
Barbie: Yes, actually. How everything plays out will determine when it is released. There is a lyric video too, but it’s not finished. I want to release that before the video.
Lifetime: You seem to be taking the independent approach towards your career, almost as if you just do not seem that into collaborating. Is this true?
Barbie: Not really. There’s actually a song with two other artists on the album. You’ll see when I release the tracklisting.
Lifetime: Anything special that you have planned for this era?
Barbie: Nothing too crazy yet. So far, all I have planned is a photoshoot that represents every song on the album. Each photo will be released when I release the tracklisting. All of the pictures are in black and white. No particular reason for that, I just think black and white looks cool. All of the pictures have a quote from the song it represents as well.
Lifetime: Those three pictures from Letterman are from the photoshoot?
Barbie: Yes.
The interview of course helped sales, because you needed to purchase the song to view it.

Almost finishing promotion down under in the hot Australia, Justin Bieber performed and won awards over at the ARIA Awards for Australia's music charts. ARIA announced this week that Justin would close the show performing 'Memphis' + was nominated in some categories. Justin announced he'd be coming to the ARIA Awards 4 days prior saying, 'ARIA here I come... let's see if I can win some Awards tonight too'. This was following the promotion the previous day, over on Studio 10 + Sunrise, two of Australia's most popular shows on TV. Justin arrived at the pre-carpet, and did a quick little interview with one of the hosts, after going inside the building and taking a seat in his front-row seat. The host announced some categories, and then some of the categories Justin was nominated in followed. Justin was nominated in Best International Artist, Best Single and finally Best Male Artist. The first category announced was Best International Artist in which... *drumroll* Justin Bieber did end up winning. The next category however, 'Best Single' he didn't win. To the surprise, Justin ended up presenting the next category which was 'Best Urban Album'. The winner of the category Hilltop Hoods came to stage and gladly accepted the award from Bieber, also stating they've felt influenced by some of his newer tracks out. Justin thanked them for the polite comments, and after returned to the seats for Best Male Artist. However, he didn't win Best Male Artist either. Though Justin was fine as he still won 1 of the awards he was nominated for. Following that, Justin performed 'Memphis' for the closing of the ARIA Awards. Justin's choreography team returned, and they did choreography to the performance of the hit single. Justin started out with a freestyle choreography, as his backup dancers joined in. Then with the microphone, he started singing 'Memphis'. The performance was moreso simple, just with him on stage singing and doing the normal choreography he's done for previous performances. Justin finished off the performance of 'Memphis' with a kiss on a fan's cheek and a rose being thrown to him on stage. Justin then got applause ofcourse, and the Award Show wrapped. However, Justin attended the after party and gave some interviews to press backstage. Justin said he was 'more than static' to attend his first ever ARIA Awards, and also win an Award. Justin also was apart of the many artists that trended that night in Australia's social networks, and got increases in sales. Justin's artwork for the single 'Memphis' was also placed on a billboard outside from the ARIA Awards show setting, that was caught in the glimpse of the cameras multiple times. Justin also did a quick interview with ARIA, stating 'I'm thankful for the international recognition. This is really basically my first time doing promotion out in Australia, it's been such a fun week. The after party was also really fun, and I had a nice chill time. It's so calm and nice here, I'm sad to be leaving tomorrow!'.
Being away from America for the rest of the week, even leaving Australia didn't stop Bieber from keeping in touch. Multi-platinum selling Pop Star Justin Bieber called into 102.7 KIIS FM and was able to do an interview with the radio host. Justin's call in was requested by 102.7, but they didn't think he'd actually do it. Justin called in while at the airport in Australia, waiting for the jet to board onto Japan to finish promotion this week for his new album, 'The Collection & More' currently in stores. Justin had just performed at 3 places in Australia, and previously also performed at 3 spots over in America. Justin's interview with 102.7 KIIS FM was his first radio interview since 'Memphis' debuted, when he originally did an interview with a Memphis based station on it. Justin's call in + interview was about 15 minutes, and 'Memphis' was played two times throughout the interaction. 'Everyone, turn your radios UP. Not because the killer music -- but we just got word Justin Bieber is on the line and ready to talk with us. This is gonna be legendary!' said the radio host, as he was told by the programmer that Justin was on the line. Justin then introduced himself, and also asked how the host was doing. Then after, the host said 'So, Memphis is #1 on our weekly countdown. The new version with Vanessa Hudgens is also bomb as hell, we're wondering what's the next single for us?' Justin replied sneakily, 'Something too good hopefully' basically hinting at the next single if you've followed the tracklist of his new album 'The Collection & More'. The host continued, 'Oh! Another star collabo, how do you keep churning these out?' to where he replied 'I don't know, but they're fun as hell + amazing. Don't y'all love 'em?'. The radio host agreed, also asking 'So, this is your first time being on 102.7 KIIS -- can we get some type of quick acoustic?'. Justin also agreed, then began singing 'Too Good to Lose' in an acoustic and stripped back form, with him just sitting there. 'Was that good enough?' he asked laughing, while the host replied 'That was amazing!'. Justin also said, 'So yeah, this is my first time over here on 102.7 KIIS. As a first time viewer, can I request we play Memphis. Let's get it started!'. The host agreed, playing the remix with Juicy J to which Justin happily sung to in the background. After the song ended, the host said 'Okay, so let's choose 1 random and lucky fan to call in and have a quick little conversation with Mr. Justin. Get to calling our line now, and we'll choose!'. After a minute, they chose a random caller -- Abby, from California who was 17. The caller was in complete shock and started screaming, and Justin started laughing. He continued by asking her how she was, how she liked the new album, and such. Justin's conversation with the fan lasted for about 5 minutes, before he finished his interview with the host and then had to board his plane. After the call in the host played 'Memphis' yet again, though the duet version featuring Vanessa Hudgens. The call in was a success, and Justin had some fun while waiting for the plane while doing it.
Justin Bieber sat down with Asaichi after arriving in Japan in the morning to talk about the new single 'Memphis', along with the new album 'The Collection & More'.. It's star-studded hit-making 20 past hits along with new songs, has got the media talking and only after 1 full week. Many people were surprised to be seeing him return with a Greatest Hits, especially in Japan where Justin didn't really become popular until 'The Complete Dream' which is a little more recent (but not that recent) compared to such as 'Thrill Seeker', 'Believe', and 'The Rise to Fame' even. 'Hot Right Now' became Justin's first #1 in Japan, and second Top 10 hit following 'Trainwreck Paradise Island'. Justin since has become a phenomenon in Japan, making hit after hit and having 'The Collection & More' become the highest debut for a non-Japanese artist in Japan thus far this year. A translator sat by Justin's side to provide him questions, and provide answers to the Japanese viewers.
How did the project come together basically?
I wanted to a short return to music, but also have it make a lasting impression. I felt 'Crossing Paths' didn't actually make the impression I wanted honestly nor last as long, but with this I feel a re-establishment of my career along with some of my best songs yet for a period of time is a good move.
Did you guys record any other songs in the studio?
Besides the 6 new tracks, yeah. There was close to 15 tracks initially recorded, or it might've been close to 10. Either way, these were the gems and I'm pretty glad I go to do the tracklisting.
So who wrote the song 'Memphis'?
I wrote a good portion, but I didn't do it all. Diplo and Mike Posner had a lot to do with it. + Vanessa, Big Sean, and Juicy J wrote their features.
Do you think the public's reception has been good?
I'd actually say it's been amazing. Y'know, with every big project you do get nervous -- wonder if it might not go the best, or the fans might not like it that much. But needless to say, as the past projects the support and acclaim has been overwhelming. I'm so thankful I have a fanbase appreciative and understanding of even my smallest work. It really makes me happy, and trust me -- I do notice, and appreciate it.
So what happens after this? The tour or the new album recording?
I'm planning on doing a tour, but the upcoming album won't start for a minute. I don't like to record things right next to each other. Good work needs appropriate timing plus savoring. In my opinion, this record was done good because I did it with months on my hand and put a lot into it. I'm trying to atleast as I said do the tour though, I'm so ready now going to all these countries and having nice comments.
Full interview aired on Asaichi throughout the rest of the week.
Azealia's Controversial Performance on the Today Show
On the last day of her promotional run, Azealia Banks went on the Today Show to promote Metamorph as well as the upcoming album The Dying Stars. While on the show, Azealia Banks got a pretty heavy/hard hitting interview. Along with the interview, Azealia gave the world a stellar performance of the hit song covering the nation's radio stations daily. During Azealia's performance of Metamorph, she wore a skin tight black latex catsuit. The outfit covered her from neck to toe. She had laced up black latex boots to match the dominatrix theme of the performance. The catsuit had a zipper that went from the neck and down to her crotch, giving a high sexual tone throughout the performance. Azealia's two female dancers wore similar outfits except that it was latex bra and panties, with latex boots. They were two Japanese girls with hair cut similar to Uma Thurman's in Pulp Fiction and bright red lipstick. Azealia's male dancers only wore black latex jock straps, revealing everything to the audience at home. Azealia's hair was done in a slicked back pony and she wore matching makeup to the dancers. The performance started off with Azealia and the dancers on stage shaking their hips back and forth as the instrumental played with one hand across the breast and the other arm over the other touching their chins, bobbing their head with their hips. The instrumental played and once Azealia began to sing, she squatted down to get on the audience's level where she touched hands with all of her biggest fans. She then stood up and when the chorus came, the two female dancers demonstrated oral sex on the male dancers on stage. Azealia then came up to them with a leather whip which she cracked on their backs, continuing to sing the chorus. Gasps flew from the audience who were all in shock by the sexual display on stage from Azealia's dancers. The performance ended with smoke covering the stage and Azealia licking her whip and smiling. The audience cheered, with some looking shocked at what the hell just happened. After a commercial break that advertised Metamorph on iTunes, Azealia sat down for an interview with the hosts of the Today Show. When Azealia was asked about the video for the remix of Metamorph she stated "The video is simple. Simple yet fun. I've had such a surprising huge response from the video, despite it being so simple. It's just about me and Janet bringing life to the party with our music. It's all about how we are having fun and dancing and everyone joins and we dance until the sun goes down. Nothing much more than that. It's a great video and I'm so glad I got to work with Janet on it. Love you, Janet!" Azealia was asked about as to why she didn't release another single this week like she originally wanted to and she responded with "I want to let this marinate. I want to let the whole world hear this song and know what is up with it. I feel I am doing that by not cutting it off too early. It's like cutting off the life support of a loved one, I can't kill my song too soon. I'm so proud of how it's gone so far." At the end of the interview Azealia gave away remix EP's to everyone in the audience of thousands. The crowd screamed in joy. Be sure to buy Metamorph on iTunes today as well as pre-order The Dying Stars.

Tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Azealia Banks was the special guest of the night where she went to further promote the hit song Metamorph, the lead single off of her upcoming third album. The third album by Azealia is expected to be released this upcoming Saturday with songs such as a cover of Space Oddity and the hit Metamorph. Be sure to purchase it when it is released to the world. During the performance, Azealia wore a salmon colored suit. The suit was designed by Dolce and Gabbana especially for Azealia. During the performance Azealia had no dancers on stage. Nothing was on stage except for a matching salmon colored piano and a salmon colored microphone. The microphone was very vintage looking, looking as if it were from the 50s. Azealia's hair was down and wavy in a beautiful shade of midnight blue. Azealia stepped up to the mic in darkness after the announcement of her name. The lights shone bright on her face. She squinted at the audience, blinded by the lights. She began to sing as the piano played. The slowed down and more dramatic version of Metamorph was hugely successful with the older crowd who watched Kimmel as well as with critics of Azealia's continuous fast paced tune of life. After a hearty applause, Azealia gripped the mic with both hands and looked down at the ground and smiled. A commercial break then came on that heavily advertised Metamorph on iTunes today. After the commercial break, Azealia sat down for the interview. When called out, she got a standing ovation, wearing the same outfit as earlier in the night. When Kimmel asked Azealia as to why she chose to do a slower version of Metamorph Azealia said "I feel everyone should know all I do. This is what I do. Make music. Nothing particular. I just do music. I'm not Azealia the hip hop artist or Azealia the pop artist. I'm Azealia, the artist. I don't want to be limited to one specific thing and I feel this performance helped others realize all I can do, thankfully. I at least hope so." The audience clapped at Azealia's reply, some vocally cheering her on. Kimmel then asked Azealia about as to why she chose to have Janet on the remix. Azealia responded with "Janet is a legend. Who wouldn't want to collab with her? It is a privilege to be in her presence. For her to accept my request was.. Just crazy. She's always and will always be an inspiration for me. The video we did was the most fun I ever had while filming. Nothing will ever replace it, in my opinion. She is a great person all around. She's a great friend, great mentor, great person. I love Janet." Kimmel and Azealia continued to talk about Metamorph's meaning and how great of a song it is. After the interview, they got up and hugged, announcing a surprise to the audience that all of them would go home with signed copies of the Metamorph remix featuring Janet Jackson. The audience then cheered as Azealia smiled. Be sure to buy Metamorph today and pre-order The Dying Stars.
Total Request Live, otherwise known as TRL, is a hit tv show on MTV from the early 2000s. It was brought back a few weeks ago by Ariana Grande and today Azealia had her very own special episode where they played games, sang songs, and Azealia even revealed the track list of the upcoming album by Azealia, The Dying Stars. Besides the performance and the big reveal of the track list, Azealia also was interviewed by Carson Daley who got to know everything everyone would want to know about Azealia, such as her inspiration and her drug use, what she does and what she doesn't do. The interview has become a hit on the internet, generating multiple memes and thousands of hilarious vines. During Azealia's performance of Metamorph, she wore a white jersey one piece bathing unitard with a split going down the center. Azealia had large white fur sleeves to match the outfit and those ugly clear plastic heels strippers usually wear. She finished off the outfit with an angel halo on her head covered in silver crystals. Azealia's dancers were wearing white bedazzled bikinis and were painted white, like those dancers in that Beyoncé performance on MTV. Azealia started the performance off by snapping and singing into the mic and the instrumental then began. The dancers all moved around Azealia as she moved with them, forever staying on beat with the music. After the performance of Metamorph, Azealia got a round of applause from the audience of all her biggest fans sitting before her. After the performance, there was a commercial break that advertised Metamorph being available on iTunes. After the break, Azealia got to be inteviewed by Carson Daley who asked what she does to get inspired when writing music. Smiling to her fans, she replied by saying "My fans inspire me. That most of all. My fans always inspire me. I'm inspired by everything though. This album is specifically inspired by outer space and astrology as a whole. The whole scientific part of astronomy as well as the sociology view of astrology. The album is specifically about space. The big world of outer space." Carson then asked Azealia what exactly she does drug wise and if she does any drugs. Azealia responded with "I only smoke weed. I've done molly before but only a handful of times. I don't do anything crazy like coke or heroin. Hell no that **** will **** you up and I'm not all about that life. Nope. not me. Stay in school kids and don't shoot up!" During a game, Azealia gave away a limited edition copy of Metamorph to the first one hundred thousand callers to the studio. Happy fans all around all tweeted and posted on Instagram in joy about how happy they were to be getting the limited edition Metaorph single as a digipak. When Azealia was asked about her appearance on Letterman she said "I can't wait. I mean I don't know what else to say. We've met before so this isn't something new. I'm just glad it isn't Jay Leno, as you can remember he was terrible towards me while I was busy promoting Vibes back in July." During the performance, Azealia wore a simple outfit. She wanted to keep the performance all about the music, not focusing too much on the big guns. The critics loved this entire idea, saying that it makes it apparent that she is in it for the music. The song's position on iTunes increased significantly due to the stripped down version of Metamorph Azealia performed on the show. Azealia wore a bright yellow like the sun colored caftan during the performance with no makeup and her hair down. she swayed with the beat and spun around throughout the performance, while continuing to sing. At the end of the performance of Metamorph, Azealia got a huge applause from the audience and now had a new group of stoner fans who loved Azealia. I also want to do a bounce album one day. I have that all planned out but I think that album is best for a later release. This upcoming rock album will be killer. Something I'm nervous about but excited about. It's something brand new, you know!" Azealia later revealed she has small promo videos to release for each song on the album "This part was all inspired by Bey's surprise release and the visual album last year. I am excited to reveal the cute little videos I've filmed. I have videos for every song except the two I plan to release as singles later on. You'll have to wait for those videos. Each and every day of the week next week I'll be going on the Today Show to reveal a few videos off of the album. Be sure to watch because it's something you don't want to miss. Azealia performed the Mike Will remix during the performance, the remix is off of the first remix EP, which has seen a great amount of success for a remix EP. After the performance, Azealia had Metamorph increase on iTunes by over 60%, showing her true longevity and power of just one performance. Along with this, after the performance Azealia's album that's to be released this next week, increased in pre-orders on iTunes, making it a likely shot for the top spot when it gets released, already racking up thousands of sales beforehand. During Azealia's performance on The Real, she wore a pink motorcycle suit with her hair in a beehive type of hairstyle. She stood on stage with her hands on her hips and two dancers on her sides wearing matching similar outfits. Azealia and the dancers began to jiggle and shake as the instrumental of Metamorph's Mike Will remix began, Azealia then picked up the mic to sing the lyrics as the dancers rotated and moved around her. She then began to dance with them and even did a split on stage. Halfway through the performance, Azealia did a rap verse to the song, only available on the Mike Will remix. She went all natural" When Azealia was asked about the success of Metamorph she said "I am so happy. I am also surprised. I loved making the song and I'm happy other people like the song. WHen I released the song I did not expect such positive feedback. I hope this continues and only grows. I love my fans that have been supporting me and there for me by buying the single. I can't wait to release the next single, Fly." After the interview, Azealia trended all over Twitter for hours. Also Fly trended due to Azealia's announcement of that being the new single. Justin had an interview + talked with SmapXSmap, and performed on the show today. Justin's arrival in Japan was hyped and talked about among Japanese networks and Japan citizens, when he finally arrived there was ofcourse -- pandemonium ensuing. Justin was able to make it to the studio on time however, and began the interview with the group which went well. They talked his new album in stores currently, titled 'The Collection & More' + his new single 'Memphis', in which he performed. Justin Bieber is one of the most popular musicians today, with over 20 hit singles, millions of albums sold, millions more singles, and over 15 #1 albums & singles. He returns with a Greatest Hits album, that contains 3 discs filled with 30 hit singles, demos, and new tracks. The album is currently in stores, and on iTunes + Amazon. Justin sat down with The View earlier during the week, in which he described the newest album as 'just a re-collection, and a look back at my career. I feel so blessed that I was able to accomplish this, and I'm now at a position to where I can sit and have the time to reflect back on it. I hope my fans will enjoy this experience, just as much as I have these past years'. Justin's interview was and performance was 30 minutes. The interview and performance were also live, and streamed on his website for non-Japanese citizens. Viewers were also able to submit a few questions, some which he got to answer -- the questions ranged from his new album and single, to touring, to his fiance Vanessa Hudgens, personal questions, and advice. The interview was watched by millions, becoming one of the series top episodes to date for SmapXSmap. The performance started with lights shining in the air, and you saw Justin Bieber in the middle. In the background were background dressed in white, -- and there was a woman to the side of the stage. Then he sung the beginning, and got everyone into the spirit. 'I'm tryna give you what's right girl'. As the song went on, the performance got better and even more pumped. Then mid-way towards the performance, he takes the girl by her hand to the middle of the stage and whispers the lyrics in her ear. The girl looks him down in silence, and they bust into the same routine he did on The Voice Finale in US, the other day. He went into a car propped on stage as she suddenly disappeared when the lights came on -- "Welcome to Memphis" appeared on stage. The car drove off of stage in a huge space for it, and a fake sunset was propped following it - as if he drove off into the sunset. It was a joyful performance, and once he finished he got back on stage towards the end and hugged some fans. He also had copies of 'The Collection & More' in his hands, as he gave them out to the audience.
