You really don't have to be able to read music to create good/great music. Some people just go by ear and intuition. When you hear a good song it gives you goosebumps. Rick Rubin(very accomplished record producer in the industry) is another one who don't(and is not able) to read music but still makes great music.
Wow. It's sad that he couldn't be honest because this will destroy his reputation. Not a good start of the year and last year was not nice to him either.
