Plus music is supposed to be an art. Like almost everything, we're at a point now where we have access to almost every bit of music from the past thanks to YouTube, etc. It's only natural that people are going to compare the quality of the material from the past to the quality of the material today.
Plus a lot of today's singers are pretentious ***holes who think they're entitled to respect and success and bitch and cry when the game doesn't work in their favor. It turns people off.

Music is art, but it's a business too. Labels will craft what they think will sell. People want to get in on the money. Dad-rock music snobs need to keep this in mind when they criticize other genres. At the end of the day, people still have bills to pay and mouths to feed. As much as rap gets disrespected, a lot of rappers, regardless of how mediocre, are just trying to break out of poverty. Almost all the big rappers like Jay-Z, P. Diddy, even 2 Chainz and Rick Ross, have.
I'm glad we can listen to music from many other generations. It's always funny when people say they wish they were born in/could go back to the 60s, 70s, etc, for real music. They don't know how good they have it now, and how much harder life was back then.
