Iggy is right. No need to be apologetic if she has done nothing wrong.

It's because people don't leave the race complaints against Iggy at her twitter and attack JUST the quality of her music.

Iggy's using the same Pitbull, Flo-Rida, LMFAO formula for sucess. So, there's more explaining Iggy's success than just white privilege, because plenty of POC artists have been using the same strategy and succeeding. Where would Nicki be without Superbase? White privilege plays a big part in her ascent, but if all Iggy needed to do to break was be white, then why didn't it happen with all those singles she released before Fancy? There's a big demand right now for hip-hop inflected pop on pop radio. Iggy blew up by catering to it. She allied herself with people who invested money and promo into her career, much like Nicki did with YM. Iggy basically went through the proper channels and kept knocking on the door with single after single until she scored a major hit.

First off, the person with 2PM in there avi needs to stop talking given how the kpop industry thrives off of black culture appropriation and blackface.
1. I dont know why its necessary for iggy to have to "acknowledge" her privilege. She acknowledges that she's doing black music so she isnt stealing anything. And please stop with this privilege ****. She cant be proud that she finally made it after all those flop singles and not being able to get record until 10 years after looking for one? (she started going to see labels at 14). Do I have to acknowledge the fact that Im able to go to college because I come from money. Do I have to acknowledge the fact that because I have a lighter skin tone than most Black Hispanics that I have it easier?
2. She's an entertainer, not a politician. stop using her as a scapegoat to combat systematic oppression.Attack the system not a bystander
3. So which is it? you guys say she isnt a rapper, she's a popstar so by that definition she isnt even involved with black culture. Iggy alrady said that she doesnt care what you label her music. I think of her as a rapper who done pop music. Its not her fault if music publications treat her as though she's hip hop. You guys should attack them not her.
4. We've all said pretty ignorant and ****ed up things before and it wouldnt be fair if people held it against us all the time and keep bringing it up after we've apologized for it. I had a friend who told a joke about latinos that could easily be taken offensively and when I told them this, they apologized and said they were trying to be clever and they realized their mistake. It would be wrong for me to keep holding that over their head after they made an effort to make amends.
5. Fancy wouldve been a hit by black artist because the song is pop. It wouldve also got played on pop radio and not been restricted to urban. All of B.o.B's singles got massive airplay on top40 because they were pop despite him being black. Now if you want to make a non pop/crossover hip hop single then expect it to be only played on certain formats. Even Eminem said in Rap God that he gets criticized for making pop songs even though he considers it a combination of hip hop and pop. Why do you think he combines the two? So his single can be played on top40.
How would you feel if someone told you the only reason youre successful is because youre white. That diminishes everything you've done thus far to get where you are. And lastly you people say that there are black artist that dont get the success they deserve. Well in a country of white people who prefer pop music, if youre doing some other genre, do you really hope to be huge when majority of the GP dont listen to the genre of music your doing. Whats the excuse for people doing post-hardcore rock that dont get the attention of big sells or people doing folk, or heavy metal, or EDM that dont get the success or big sells. Yes, race is a huge problem in the world. But if youre going to consistently use it as a goddamn crutch and a reason to make other people feel like **** then it becomes your problem exclusively. Iggy may have said some ignorant ****, but it doesnt warrant the amount hate she gets. And you all can lie to yourselves and say "Its because her music is average and she has no talent" but 500,000 ****ing people still bought 2 chainz frist album. Rae Sremmurd is #2 on itunes. But yet those mediocre rappers dont get any hate. Your hatred for iggy is based on the fact that she is white with some other exaggerated **** piled on top. Hating white people in a ****ing white country is only going to increase the ****ing problem y'all are solved.

Oh my god. They don’t say it about Macklemore because he isn’t calling himself a slave master, he writes his own kidz bop rap and in spite of undeserved praise, isnt outwardly or expressly ignorant and bigoted on race related issues.
Edit: btw could someone do me the tremendous favour of finding a Freddie Mercury avi? I'm so done with these racist so called "rappers"

I didn't need to "stop talking", like y'all keep saying. Its like you want to void anybody that has any opinion that differs from yours. And my fave has never called himself a slavemaster or slammed Mexicans, etc. etc. on Twitter. Also, they as a WHOLE haven't been involved in anything racist as Iggy has. I also don't know where's the appropriation in 10/10, Heartbeat, Again & Again, Without U, I'm Your Man, Hands Up, Beautiful, Go Crazy, CWYHTS, A.D.T.O.Y if you really wanna go there. Do your research before you try it. This would've made more sense if I was a YG stan But back to the ORIGINAL topic, for you to bring them up was completely void of the point I was making. But again, dragt me I guess when really that doesn't add anything to the discussion.
And also that has nothing to do with my issue of her always being "woe is me". The fact that she tried to say it has anything to do with her being a woman (being a FEMINIST WOMAN myself) frustrates me. She doesn't get it, and using Elvis as an example was obviously a poor choice of an artist.

Abso-****ing-lutely. Why would you not acknowledge the truth, the same truth that hinders nonwealthy, darkskinned people in every day life?

As zoraluv said you make incredibly VALID points but she has not apologized as of recent for some of the ignorant/hurtful comments she has made.

Obviously but it definitely would not have been nominated for a Grammy, lbr.

Um, yes they did. And macklemore has put in almost 10 years in underground rap
Now I agree the hate is too much, but it's not because she's a woman. Pretty sure it's cause she's white

Damn, if anything Iggy is very polarizing. People in here can keep yelling "y'all don't get it" but the fact remains that she's done nothing wrong, aside from using a faux accent. And she didn't get on because of that faux accent. The problem most of you have is with the media's interpretation of Iggy and hip hop. The fact that some outlets are/have/will praise her for mediocrity. Welcome to life.
Iggy is a sub par rapper. She is one in many. The only reason she stands out is because of her race. And because for a sub par, white female rapper who achieves mainstream success that other sub par male or female black rappers haven't achieved yet is seen as the problem.
There is whitewashing of black culture, absolutely. But this stems from the media and popular culture. This board deems pop music better then most other forms of music. And most of y'all don't know anything about hip hop and only stan for artist like Iggy or Nicki because they made a pop crossover.
Iggy is in a tough spot.
