ATRL Chats were the most offthewall entertaining stuff I was ever involved in on the net. It really was fun to talk about music with everyone, play those games, and gossip about atrl.
Are they still going on? When did they stop?

I think the "vets" have a permanent chat these days, but it's never active and there's a "n00b" chat in MSN but it's annoying
I think chats started going downhill after you stopped coming

And on that note, wow, I can't believe it's already been 6 years for me! There have been a lot of memorable moments since I first came, like:
- Jim coming out ( )
- Yale Nate making up dumb words and calling everything immoral
- the Alexa and Monica feud
- Exodus 420
- Damien shouting out Absolute TRL on a TRL episode
- Kworb's Battle Royale
- 2003/2004 chats
- Khia posting Kworb's article on her myspace
- NG's split personalities
- My own split personality
- Kyle's Kelly Clarkson death rumors
etc. etc. etc.
as corny as it sounds, this forum was a very important part of my teenage years and my main source of entertainment for a good while. Like Alexa said, the chats were the most fun I've ever had online, and how can I forget that period where me, derek, ng and robert were all really close?. Truly wonderful times! Thanks ATRL for existing!

And now for Travis10's 10,000th post...
I came along in 2005 from the MTV.com forum boards for the love of Total Request Live. My interest in this site bled along and grew to where I am right now. Ever since then, Absolute TRL has been quite the playground for me with a revolving door of new playmates, equipment, and landscapes.
Here's to us!

I'm probably about the newest registered member here, but I figured I'd chime in anyway.
I used to frequent the TRL by Sarah board (and the chats that spawned from it) back in its heyday. I have no idea who's still around from those days aside from TC since I've only lurked here recently, mostly reading the Hot 100 updates every Wednesday night. (I remember, we used to stalk the Billboard Radio website because it typically updated at midnight with the full Hot 100, several hours before the top 50 was available on the main Billboard page.)
There are so many memories I have of that site and those chats, most of which would likely mean nothing to just about anyone here. At the time, I thought those were the best days of my life. Looking back, I still feel like they were up there. And ultimately, they did lead to the best days of my life - I met my wife in the chat one night. We both keep up with several of the people we were friends with back then. We actually recently met up with some of them again at Sarah's wedding.
I guess I could post this on the "Post your pics" thread as well, but I'll go ahead and post it here for now.
This is my wife Carrie, me, Sarah (of TRL by Sarah fame), Todd, and Rachael. Those names may not be familiar to a lot of people, but these are some of the best people I've ever known, and I would never have met any of them without one of this site's predecessors. I quit going to the board not long after the merger with Absolute TRL, but I'm glad it's still around. Even though the consensus in the "Have you ever personally met someone from ATRL?" thread is "No, and I hope I never do," I hope that some of you find some good friends on here. At the very least, I hope you all have a good time, and I hope ATRL is around for a while longer.
Happy Anniversary ATRL.

Holy crap, MIKE! LONG time, no see, man. This is the former (thank god) RyanTRLMan here, and it's so amazing to see you back here after so long, even if only for a very brief period of time.
And I bolded a certain sentence because I HAVE met ATRLers, including TC himself, and those experiences were some of the best that I've ever had in my life. Some posters on here may sway other posters away from meeting each other, but I'm living proof that you can meet someone from here AND live to tell the tale.
And, of course, I'm glad to hear that you and Carrie got married. The original first couple lives on!

Welcome back to the boards. Nice to see an original member return. I joined this site back in 2007 and I never get tired of coming here. And it's funny you bring up about other members meeting each other, just recently me and another member who hang here just recently met face to face. It was ironic because we both found out months ago we both lived in the same neighborhood on here and never ran into each other and then just a month ago we ran into each other on the train. But anways that's really something to hear, glad to see you's all stayed in touch and congrats to you and your wife. Life is just full of surprises, isn't it.

First of all, thank you both for the congrats. Secondly, I'm glad to see that there are still people around from way back when. I knew TC was still on here, but I was beginning to think that maybe no one else was around from the era I remember.
Whenever people ask how Carrie and I met, we start telling them we met online and they automatically assume it was an online dating service, something like Match.com. They're amazed - and maybe a bit relieved - when they find out it was very much a chance meeting on a message board (technically the chat, but still).
Obviously I don't expect it to be like that for everyone, but I'm glad that this board has had at least some sort of impact on a few people on here. The story about living in the same neighborhood reminds me of part of what set all of this in motion for me. Carrie grew up in Phoenix, and was living there when she found Sarah's site. Since they were both in Phoenix, they ended up meeting up and became good friends. That was eight years ago.
Apparently I feel like sharing, so I'll go ahead and share my part of the story. I used to watch TRL regularly, and was watching when they had the Fan Club President contest. To be honest, I didn't know what the Fan Club President would do. Actually, I still don't. I decided though that if Sarah picked a Blink 182 video, that I'd vote for her. She did, and so I did. While voting for her, I stumbled upon her site and message board. I quickly grew close to a lot of the people on there, though I was one of the younger ones in our circle. I fit in with those folks though, and just had such a blast. I would look forward to the chats all day, and was always bummed when they weren't going on or when only a couple people were around. Honestly, I could ramble for a while (and kind of already have), so I'll wrap this up.
Thanks again to the site admins for the work you guys put into this, and thanks to everyone else for letting me reminisce.
