On January 7, gibbous moon will be seen at the east-northeast horizon. The event will occur at about 8pm and about 6 degrees to its left, Jupiter would be seen. According to an astronomer, Jean Meeus, from Belgium, Venus and Mercury will be less than 5 degree from each other in January.
Mercury is expected to reach greatest elongation on January 14. On this day, the planet will be about 19 degrees east of the sun. At that time, the planet will shine at a magnitude of about minus 0.6. Mercury will fade rapidly and after January 23, it could not be seen.
On January 19, stargazers will be able to get a glimpse of Neptune. On this day, Mars will pass about 0.2 degrees to south of bluish Neptune. People with telescopes will be able to see Neptune.
