CÉLINE DION & KUNTALICIOU$
ROCKIN’ NEW YEAR’S EVE [1963 words]
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Céline Dion and Kuntaliciou$ would head into New York Wednesday for Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve. Whether the two would perform, have an interview, premiere a video- it was all speculated. However, come time of their appearance on the annual special, the pair surprised fans, and the globe, by doing all three of the main speculated theories. Despite a setback in radio, “Pu$$y Be Flamin’” was still holding up in the Top Ten on US iTunes- which was considered fantastic from the label, but an underperformance from music critics given that Céline Dion had the biggest hit of the quarter with “Ratchette” last Holiday Season. However, the Rockin’ New Year’s Eve would be the first real slot the two would promote the single at, which has definitely been confusing to severals, as the pair has barely promoted the single.
RYAN /// “Nice to see you again Céline, happy New Year’s Eve!”
CÉLINE /// “Thanks Ryan!”
RYAN /// “And I see you’ve brought along a friend.”
CÉLINE /// “Yup.”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “Hello! It’s ‘Liciou$.”
RYAN /// “Hi ‘Liciou$, it’s Ryan, nice to meet you. Happy New Year!- welp, not yet. So how have the two of you been doing- we obviously know you’ll be doing some very special things with your single “Flamin’” tonight, including the first-ever performance of it, and another surprise we’ll reveal later.”
CÉLINE /// “We’ve been doing great.”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “LOTS of rehearsals, just tons.”
CÉLINE /// “Definitely, but we’re very ready and excited to deliver tonight.”
RYAN /// “So ‘Liciou$, if I’m not mistaken, you were found by Céline while rapping with a group of friends in Paterson, New Jersey- correct?”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “Yeah. It was just another Saturday, hanging around and just doing whatever with my friends, and of course we ended up just spitting for fun. Then about ten minutes in, one of my friends begins to meltdown as he sees this all-black, tinted windows- just ALL suspicous-looking limousine.”
CÉLINE /// “I didn’t mean to scare anyone!”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “So we thought we were in trouble… for some reasons… yeah, that’ll be for another time- but anyways, Céline walks out and we all just froze.”
RYAN /// “So you guys knew it was CÉLINE, Céline Dion?”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “Yeah, and we were just done- like DONE. She then sat down, watched us rap, enjoyed ourselves, and then it ended up with me taking a ride in her limousine to New York for a business meeting.”
RYAN /// “So it happened just like that?”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “Just like that.”
RYAN /// “What was going through your head when this was all happening?”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “I was about to piss- like legit piss. But I kinda felt at home with Céline, watching all my guys and girls rap, it was just a natural feeling.”
CÉLINE /// “Definitely natural. I could just feel this nice energy when she was just in the circle, doing her thing, and I knew she was it.”
RYAN /// “So you two came up and about with this single- recorded in Hawaii- and did the both of you know this was going to be final?”
CÉLINE /// “We definitely knew that this was going to be on the album from the start, for sure.”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “Definitely not the lead single I’d be performing in Times Square today though- like ****.”
RYAN /// “So what has been the craziest moment of 2014 for both of you and what do you look forward to doing in 2015? Well, I’d imagine ‘Liciou$ would say meeting Céline Dion and entering this crazy industry.”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “No question. I’m just really honored to be here. I grew up always watching this special with my friends year after year after year… so to be on the screen this time is really unbelievable. But besides the music, I had a new cousin in the family so yeah that was a really big thing.”
RYAN /// “Well congratulations on those. Céline?”
CÉLINE /// “Probably September when I finally released ‘#TurntUp’- I was just very happy it was out finally. But recording with ‘Liciou$ and our producers in Hawaii was crazy, we had some crazy times down there. And- going to Vegas in the summer on vacation. That was very lovely.”
RYAN /// “Well you two have a little surprise for our viewers at home coming right up after the break- stay tuned for more on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve as we ring in 2015 with Céline Dion and ‘Liciou$.”
[Commercial Break]
RYAN /// “Welcome back to Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve! We are joined by the one and only Céline Dion, and her special guest ‘Liciou$. So Céline, let’s rewind to last year. You performed “Ratchette” for us and it became the #1 best-selling single of the season. Are you gonna replicate that?”
CÉLINE /// “Not this season Ryan. You definitely know how risky “Flamin’” is- but there are other great singles to be released from the album.”
RYAN /// “So you have a new album, ‘#TurntUp2: Le Unreal Slayáge’ coming out in February- correct?”
CÉLINE /// “Yes.”
RYAN /// “Describe to our viewers what we can expect.”
CÉLINE /// “Just a lot more of a dark, haunting, sophisticated, high-quality feel to the record. I definitely experimented a lot more than the last record, and I’ve collaborated with some fantastic people, such as ‘Liciou$ right here.”
RYAN /// “Do you and ‘Liciou$ have any other songs on the album?”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “Just this single.”
RYAN /// “Okay… so… I think it’s time we get to our little surprise. Now, you two are gonna go on to perform in just a few minutes, but you have a little something planned.”
KUNTALICIOU$ /// “Yes, we do!”
RYAN /// “Go on.”
CÉLINE /// “Hey guys- this is Céline Dion, and ‘Liciou$, and you are about to see a world exclusive to the music video for our brand-new song, “Flamin’”. Happy New Year’s!”
All of a sudden, all of the screens in Times Square blacked out, as the televised broadcasted screen blacked out two seconds later. The sound of a ticking clock played, as the screen showed many different decades in a typewriter-esque font: “1900” & “1910” & “1920” & “1930” & “1940” & “1950” & “1960” & “1970” & “1980” & “1990” & “2000” & “2010” & “2015” flashed with each clock-tick passing by. The “2015” faded to a shot of Céline and Kuntaliciou$ standing back-to-back, in all-white outfits in a black room. Céline checked her watch, looked up, and whispered “Go!”, with Kuntaliciou$ firing a gun with a pink-red bullet into the camera, breaking its lens. The sound of flames then came through, with the words: “FLAMIN’ — MUSIC VIDEO — 1/11” popped up. The television then showed the crowds in Times Square applauding and enjoying the teaser- as Ryan would announce the performance. “Wow… what a special treat from Céline Dion and ‘Liciou$. Their new single, “Flamin’”, is out right now- and they’re here to perform it for us.”
All the screens in Times Square blacked out again, with the television screen following up two seconds later. The broadcast was completely shifted from the city, to the underground metro. Céline and Kuntaliciou$ were lying down, looking either drunk or dead inside a subway- wearing metallic black outfits. The light in the subway flickered every three seconds, as a violin arrangement began to play. The sound of buzzing telephones began to come into play, after cute synth noises, some bass, and guitar riffs made cameos to the violin arrangement. The buzzing noise abruptly stopped, with the light turning on completely- revealing Kuntaliciou$ to be using the payphone in the subway. “You are a client to my music,” she scolded to the phone as the instrumental for “Pu$$y Be Flamin’” raged through. “It’s ‘Liciou$ and Céline y’all, Happy 2015! Let’s get flamin’!” she yelled into her microphone. The synth-bass calmed down, as the lights in the subway dimmed, with everything glowing in the dark. The music paused, with Céline giggling, and then her glow-in-the-dark outfit, just outlines of her black metallic jumpsuit, and then progressed as she began the first verse. She held the subway pole with her right hand and moved her hips to the bass as Kuntaliciou$ look hyped by her side, and multiple background dancers in all-white outfits glowed and did some complicated choreography.
Céline did her vocals over playback (an electronic vocal), since the track does feature a heavily-manipulated vocal, to correspond perfectly with the sound of the track. The pre-chorus came in quickly after Céline spit her lines, as everyone swayed their bodies to the floor, flipped their hair, and brought themselves back up using only their legs- it looked nice and in-sync. Several visuals, such as plaid backgrounds and the underwater coral reefs began to project in the subway, as an added build-up helped to ring in the chorus very heavily. The lights would be interrupted by red flashing alarms everywhere, partially revealing how amazing Céline and everybody else on the scene looked. She shouted the chorus while strutting around the subway: “So hot, yeah I’m flamin’”- she’d wind herself with a little-mini Japanese fan during one of the lines. More added musical elements were brought in as the chorus ended, helping transition calmly into the next verse. A laid back aura was created as some light smoke blew out into several parts of the subway, and sky-blue to pale-magenta lights slowly appeared all over the subway.
Céline then walked into another subway, where many different fans (randomly selected in the crowds) were brought to see Céline perform a portion of the song, right before their very own eyes, up close and personal. No fancy lighting or production was used this time around, but just Céline, her collaborator, and her dancers marched up over to many fans, interacting with them- as Céline stood in the middle as poised as a statuette, looking immaculate. During the line, “I’m popping champagne, with Madonna!” the sound of a champagne being popped blasted through the speakers as the music stopped, and continued on afterwards with the beat hitting in hard. Céline then walked around, interacting with fans as everybody was having a good time. The chorus came on, as everybody began to sprint out of the subway and up into the New York streets.
The chorus was looped two times, playing three in total before Kuntaliciou$’s verse- as everyone jumped on into the main stage. “It’s ‘Liciou$, get ‘em!” Céline shouted. Kuntaliciou$ rapped her verse on the stage, as Céline hyped up the crowd on-stage and the dancers clung from the edges of the stage, looking out into the Times Square crowd. Kuntaliciou$ made sure to rap everything clean and different from the original track, as she did some choreography with two dancers. After her verse, alarms went off and Céline pushed a button that made red fireworks begin to blast all over the top of the city / skyline as the final chorus kicked in. Everyone’s clothes began to light up again, this time having a huge spiral of color glow, which made the crowd even more surprised. Céline and Kuntaliciou$ screamed out the chorus together, as they strut around like queens, confidently and poised on the stage. They both headed to the back of the stage, where two cannons lay there.
As soon as the outro to the track ended, both fired the cannon shouting “Happy New Year!”. The cannon shot out tons of dollar bills- which was confirmed by the label at a later time to be $100,000 in cash in each cannon. Ryan thanked the two for entertaining the audiences (live and televised) and reiterated that the single was available now. The follow day, the clean version of the track, “Flamin’” skyrocketed into the Top Twenty on the iTunes chart with the explicit right outside the Top Ten. “Pu$$y Be Flamin’” is out right now- with ‘#TurntUp2’ dropping in February.

Can I release a remix single with another CAL artist even if I have 2 CAL collabs on an album already? Basically, does the collab rule apply to just the albums or entire eras?

Miley Cyrus: Harper's Bazaar Magazine
(click to view in full size)
It was a rainy morning in New York City, I sat at a humble cramped coffee shop near small corner, my schedule was half empty and I was still thinking it’s my most important work week; In fact, it indeed was my most important work week. I was going to interview Miley Cyrus at that same tiny place the day after, I made my arrangements with the coffee shop owner, reserved the property for the whole two-hour and hoped it would earn the singer’s approval. Fast forward a day after, and I was at the same place, waiting for Miley Cyrus to arrive. I was shaky and nervous about how I should act; should I act professional? should I act friendly? will I agitate her if I joked with her? Many people have that fun image during the cameras like Miley, but I was afraid that she would be the opposite off the camera. Nevertheless, it was time for her arrival, the clock ticks at three o’clock and fifty six minutes, and she’s here, four minutes early. I move myself outside the coffee shop to guide her in, my eyes hit her silhouette, it was broad daylight, completely opposite of yesterday, I thought to myself that it was a sign that the interview would go well. I see Miley, wrapped up in a yellow fur-trimmed jacket over an all-black outfit and gold detail lace-up boots, while wearing a bubble hat on her head, looking extremely cozy getting out of the car the got her here, I said to her, “Happy new year!,” and she replied while grinning , “Happy new year to you too, dear.” I accompany her in the coffee shop while asking her, “Anything to drink?” and she politely asks for water. I led her to our table next to a giant window that blinded us with sunlight, pulled the window sheets down and it was a go.
The first thing I ask her is what her new year resolution since we just entered two thousand and fifteen, and she says “I actually never get those done so I quit with the tradition, I’m not a very well organized person so I could never accomplished them, so I stopped making promises, I also think that I don’t need self-improvement; I tell myself that I learn about myself each day so there’s no room for fixing something that doesn’t exist, if that makes sense.
What a detailed answer, I thought. It surprised me how into the interview she was, the question seeks a four-word answer, but she gave more than that.
She takes off her bubble hat, puts the bubble hat into her purse, reveals her strikingly beautiful colored blonde hair. “What pushed you to to release Dancing Under The Influence as the starter for this album?” I ask her, “There are couple of factors that led me to choose the song as the lead single, starting with the song itself. It’s a really catchy song, you can enjoy it easily and quickly, the beat is addictive and it’s so captivating, it pulls you in and makes you really love it. The state of my mind also had an input in choosing the song as the first single, it completely covered and interpreted my thoughts in such a captivating way like I said. During that time, I was so deeply in love with music, the concept, and so I was thinking about how addictive you get when you listen to music, sort of like a drug, and that’s when everything clicked. The song title itself is a reference of addiction, as in driving under the influence, so it was undeniably one of the options to start the project. The other factor is how it is a great starter and introduction to this chapter of my life and my artistic vision, so it definitely will be an introduction of the album,” she answers.
“Did you predict the success the song has received?” I asked the singer, “I definitely knew it was going to be something interesting for the listeners, and I imagined it being as big as it is now, but you’re never really sure how it’s going to perform especially during this time where a lot of songs of different genres are being recognized and loved,” she said. “How does the recording process go for a song like the single?” I asked, “It is really unfortunate that people who love music can’t experience the process of making the songs, there’s so much that goes on that a lot of people don’t know about. The amazing details that are in the songs are rarely noticeable, there are a lot of melodies that are kind of hidden inside the songs that not a lot of people get to listen to unless they had the urge to find out everything and studied the material. The production of the song it self holds so many great secrets, let alone the process in the recording studio. Every studio session is magical in my opinion, it’s just magical.” she answered.
“How can we expect from the album?” I asked her, “I think it’s best if you don’t expect [laughs], it is going to be different and experimental. The production is certainly special and will stand out. The lyrics speak about everything I went through the past few years, and I think the music is the combination of both of the great elements I just mentioned. It’s my journey to understanding music fully and completely, it’s a chapter of my life, it’s piece of my heart. I personally feel it’s good, it’s making me confident about it so I think it will earn most people’s approval,” she said. “Are there any collaborations on the album?” I said, “I really can’t say anything about that, but you’re going to see,” she answered.
Miley Cyrus performed the single and premiered the video in Dubai, the luxurious city of the United Arab Emirates, during it’s New Years Eve 2015 celebration, using the world’s most advanced technology. The country broke the world record for the largest LED-illuminated facade, which was used as a display screen for the music video. “You did a spectacular show at Dubai, what was it like performing in a such different culture?” I asked her, “Performing in Dubai is definitely one of my life’s highlights, I can’t believe I got to do that, in such an important time too. When I got up on the stage, I said to my self, ‘You’re doing this Miley, so kill it.’ and it was the first time I talked to myself like that, it was the first time I encouraged myself and pushed myself at such scary moments. After I said that to myself, all the stress disappeared as if I was sitting at home alone, all the weight on my shoulders simply dropped off. That what made it such an important moment to me other than performing in such a big event. The audience was so happy during the show, which is unexpected due to my past controversies. I made sure the video wasn’t as explicit as my others so I won’t upset the country and made sure I showed full respect for their culture. I am definitely performing there again, hopefully in Abu Dhabi for my new tour.” she answered, “It’s really insane because I was sleeping two hours before the performance because of the long flight, and it’s the first time I perform so early to my bed time. It happened so quick.”
Cyrus also released her first fragrance ever, ‘Lique,’ the past week. The scent perfectly matches it’s endorser, as it was described as: Powerful, sexy, audacious, and memorable. “Why did you decide on releasing a fragrance?” I asked her, “I’m obsessed over perfumes and fragrances, I have so many of them and I love buying new ones so when I got offered to release my own perfume I couldn’t resist. I was surprisingly heavily involved with the whole thing, and I made sure it represented my image so I won’t disappoint the fans,” she said. The commercial is said to be revolving around by Venus Extravaganza, an trans-woman american performer who rose to national attention after being featured in the documentary film ‘Paris Is Burning.’ “Why Venus Extravaganza?” I ask Miley, “It’s the connection I felt when I saw the documentary that made me so inspired by her and so hypnotized by her. She has so much potential but she couldn’t live the life she wanted. I also think she really represents the perfume’s scent, she’s fierce,” she answered.
“What can you tell us about the new tour?” I ask her, “The show will be completely different from the Bangerz tour. The Bangerz tour was just a blast each day, I was mostly having fun. I think this time I’m going to be more serious and focus on satisfying the audience rather than enjoying myself. I’m going to work harder to present a more complex show with more diversity to it and more spectacular things. The goal is to make the most enjoyable show for the viewer, but we’re only at the very early stages of doing the show so I don’t have any details to share with you on what I can tell you about the tour but what I can say is that we’re aiming to please the audience,” she confidently replies. “Are we going to see some of the madness you’re known of?” I said, “Oh, definitely. There’s still some crazy in me that needs to be showed, but you’re going to see a more unexpected vulnerable side of me different from the side I showed you with Wrecking Ball, which I consider to have some strength to it,” she said, “Because the way I see it, a wrecking ball had strength to it, it was powerful, but now it is shattered and wrecked, and you’re going to see the continuation of that.” “So are we going to see another Wrecking Ball in the album?” I said, “Not exactly, it’s a continuation of the story and what happens after. It’s not a Wrecking Ball two point o, so no,” she said. “What about other side projects, do you have anything interesting coming?” I asked, “I have a very busy schedule and it’s a complicated one so I’m not trying to know what’s happening or what’s going to happen really, I want to be surprised so I can be myself most of the time, you know because if you prepared yourself for something you sometime can change your nature to try to fit into the situation, I’m avoiding that. So, aside from the album projects, I know as much as you do,” she said. “Did stardom change you?” I ask her, “I honestly don’t know, it’s all I’ve ever known. Ever since I was young I was on the spotlight so I was never really changed, I grew up with this lifestyle. It actually makes me wonder what I would be if I wasn’t famous,” she said.
“Some people might wonder, how do you cope with such attention and such straightforward hate from some people?” I asked, “It used to effect me at first, I would cry because I had that when I very young, but now I simply don’t care about anything negative that is said about me. It’s one of the pros of being in this industry for so long, I dare myself to do things I never thought I would do, and I never pay attention to anything negative. If anything, they push me to do more so I can have power to myself, if that makes sense,” she said. “When was the last time you had a breakdown about that stuff?” I asked, “I never did, actually. I may have cried a little when I was younger, but it was never something as serious as a break down. I’m very understanding,” she answered. “And what about your love life?” I ask, “I’m happily in love with someone so special,” she said as she blushed. “Congrats,” I say to her.
And so it was the end of the interview, I thanked Miley for her patience and gave her a small gift wrapped in a pink wrapper, we shook hands and I guided her to the exit, she thanked me and then left. I took a large breath and sighed, the interview went very well and very fast. My impression of her? Completely down to earth and very polite, it was like talking to a friend, it wasn’t strictly business and it wasn’t all jokes and fun, it was simply great; made me love her more.

FKA twigs KIIS FM

FKA twigs released her album Against the Front last week as well as her single Feeling of Acrimony. Today, the alternative queen has stopped by KIIS FM to talk about the release of the album, making the single, and more.
Q: FKA twigs in the building! What's up?
A: Nothing much. Justing enjoying the new year
Q: Well let's get right down to business. What was it like to drop an album by surprise like that? That's crazy. No one's done it since Beyoncé.
A: It was insane. You're right, no one has pulled it off since Bey did it. It was such a huge standard to live up to and I will never do it but it's nice to be compared. It was great to release the album and finally be able to put out the music I've been wanting to put out. I don't regret a thing, honestly.
Q: You released a single to go along with the album called Feeling of Acrimony. Tell us all about that.
A: Well I released a song called Feeling of Acrimony just hours before dropping the album. The song is a story. A story in a way that it's about the way you feel after you leave someone. You see that person move on and go with other people and begin to feel that jealousy brewing deep down inside of you. That's what the song is about, basically. The bitterness and jealousy you feel towards your ex lover's new love life.
Q: Wow. Your video for that was a work of art, like all of your videos. You said you want to release a video for every song on the album. Tell us about that.
A: I always release videos for all my works. EP1 and EP2 have visuals to go with each song. I feel that this should be no different. I am actually talking to the MET and seeing if I can get my videos displayed there for a special one time only thing. It's going to be great.
Q: Wow, we can't wait. Everyone be sure to buy Feeling of Acrimony and Against the Front today.

FKA twigs Performs at YSL 2015 Event

To continue the promotion of her work Against the Front and Feeling of Acrimony, FKA twigs performed at the YSL 2015 event yesterday. The event previewed the new designs that would be seen in future collections throughout the year. When asked about the event and being invited to perform, twigs said "I am truly honored. Fashion is a love of mine and to be invited to perform for some of the biggest heads in the industry is an honor. I will be sure not to disappoint them, I will truly show all the talent I have. I think they'll enjoy it."
At the event, twigs wore a vintage YSL gown made of a thin fabric and dyed a beautiful gold tone. The outfit had accessories made of pure gold that wrapped around her arms, giving an almost robotic look. Her hair was done in an afro style and her face was painted with metallic gold face paint. Overall, the look was very gold. On the stage for twigs in Milan there was nothing but white columns and a microphone. twigs was walked on by large dark skinned muscular men wearing nothing but loin cloths and oiled up. twigs then got to the microphone. As twigs was walking the bass drum was banging. twigs then began to sing and move her hands and pull at air with them with the beat. Everyone in the audience felt touched and loved the performance dearly. No special effects, nothing too jazzy. The performance of Feeling of Acrimony was uploaded onto Vogue Italia's website.
FKA twigs talked about the event with the press saying "I am so proud of how I did. I truly feel that I honored my family, fans, and the industry. Plus I got to show off a really cute outfit. I hope I get to do this again." Be sure to buy Feeling of Acrimony and Against the Front today.

The appearance on the show drew millions of viewers and got FKA twigs to a more mainstream audience. After the performance and interview on the show, twigs got an over 60% increase in sales and moved her single back into the iTunes top ten. During the performance FKA twigs wore the above outfit. There was smoke covering the stage and twigs moved her arms in a wave formation as her hair flew from the fan's wind. twigs' makeup was very intricate and odd, as said by Entertainment Weekly. The performance was of Feeling of Acrimony was heavily praised though. Critics called the performance a work of art in music form. FKA twigs sat down for an interview after the performance of Feeling of Acrimony. In the interview Jimmy asked twigs what it was like recording the music video. twigs said "It was fun. the music video is very simple. But so effective at passing the message. At least I like to think that. I believe the video really got what i was trying to say across and I really enjoyed directing and filming it." After a few more questions about the next single, next album, etc. twigs and Jimmy announced together that everyone in the audience would be receiving a copy of Against the Front as well as Feeling of Acrimony to take home.

This is so annoying, but I have to announce something.
My Wi-Fi for some reason has been rejecting ATRL, I know it just isn't my computer, because my phone even rejects it using my Wi-Fi. When I use my 4G it works perfectly fine, but I get **** service in my house, and I'll be damned if I sit outside in the cold just to use ATRL. So for now I'm going to have to take a break until I can fix the situation. If you read this don't think that you can snatch Dawn for the rest of the season, because I'm coming back y'all.

NATALIA KILLS COVERS PEOPLE’S MAGAZINE

Natalia Kills graced the cover of the new People’s Magazine looking sheek yet casual. In the magazine, she opens up about her controversial music video, leaked footage, publicity stunts, new music, and married life. Here’s what she says in the mag.
Natalia Kills, you have been the go to girl of the past year. Every producer wanted to work with you, every designer wanted you to wear their stuff, and you have been performing everywhere…how does it feel for you?
It feels amazing. I never really get used to it. Before this time, I could curse or I could say whatever the hell I wanted and it was all good, but now, I have to watch what I say, I have to act a certain way. I mean, what you see really is me, it’s how I am but I definitely simmer things down for the public eye. I can’t say the same about my social media.
Speaking of calling you out, some people got pissed off with you for your latest music video for “Coven de Couture” which I personally love and feel is not only interesting to watch but also, remarkably different. People said that the video mocked the less privileged and put the 99 cents to be a place of shame. What do you have to say about that?
Honestly, to that, all I can say is lighten up people, it’s just a music video. As I said, a couple of years back, I could do this same video and people would see it as very harmless and just a lot of fun, which don’t get me wrong is what many people saw it as…but then, you have these people that always want something to poke at, something to criticize and it’s honestly whatever to me because everybody who knows my story knows how much I struggled to be where I am today. I have experienced the worst end of it so I have absolutely no reason to make fun of the people still in the hustle, it just doesn’t add up. I think the video is beautifully shot, funny, and pays a lot of homage to some relevant people and characters in my life.
Speaking of paying homage, you do a lot of that in the new video, would you like to tell the readers more about that?
Well ya, it’s true. In this new record, I pay homage to Cheryl Cole, Beyonce, the runway, Shego from Kim Possible, Aretha Franklin and every woman who played in the 80s. It’s just a beautifully shot music video in my opinion.
So let’s talk about the leaked footage that we now all know to be fake. What made you do it?
Well, Natasha Bedingfield is a really good friend of mine and when I was about to shoot the video, I knew that I had to incorporate her into it somehow because we talked about a concept like this for a long time, where a girl gets to be the Godfather like boss for a change. Shooting with her was a lot of fun, we had to take many cuts because we just kept on cracking up between takes. As to why I decided to do the publicity stunt? Well, I was inspired the incredible Jimmy Kimmel and his twerking fail video and how much that garnered so much attention. In addition to that, I thought of the Jay Z and Solange now infamous elevator fight and I just decided, what the hell, I might as well! That’s how it came about.
So you and Natasha Bedingfield are actually friends?
She’s one of my best friends. We even did a segment on this issue together.
I spoke to her even before coming out today, she’s just down for any type of fun, I love her!
With all of these things, it’s amazing that you are actually a married woman! How do you manage to balance that with your work life?
I mean it’s not that difficult honestly, my husband is a performer as well, he is an artiste and most of the time we go to award shows, or studios, or anywhere really together. So I get on stage, do my thing, and then come down to meet him. It’s a really blessed feeling to have your best friend by your side literally all the time.
It was amazing sitting down with you Natalia Kills! You are so beautiful by the way. By the time you pick up this magazine, Natalia’s new album should be out. Make sure to purchase it, support her music and continue to enjoy People’s Magazine.
