Jordin isnt successful? having one of the bigegst hits of 2008, the highest selling single of any Idols, platinum album, every single going platinum [Tattoo soon to go 2X & No Air getting ready to go 3X], she sang at the superbowl [youngest person to do it and first AI contestant to do it], Grammy Nominated, and has won several major awards and has been nominated for many high profiled awards, and she is also the first & ONLY American idol contetant to have her first 4 singles go Top 20. To me .. that sounds successful.
And theirs a difference between having a flop album and having a gret album that no one took the time to take in. My December was a great album, it was just too dark and wasnt enough Pop for radio's and stuff. Sales were embaressing .. but the album was FAR from embarresing.

No, sorry, I don't consider Jordan to be very successful yet. I'm not counting her out yet, but she's not screaming out longevity without the help of another high-profile artist.

We get it, Jordin's successful. Sum it up in something that isn't an essay next time, please.

Season two "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken has parted ways with RCA. A source tells Billboard Aiken left the label a couple of months ago, on the heels of his 2008 album, "On My Way Here."
That set sold just 159,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Aiken's 2003 debut, "Measure of a Man," sold 2.78 million.
The artist joins a slew of second place finishers -- Katharine McPhee, Diana DeGarmo, Justin Guarini, Blake Lewis and Bo Bice, among them -- let go from their major-label deals post-"Idol."
Aiken is not currently on the road but will make a guest appearance on the April 8 episode of "America's Next Top Model," where he will serve as a guest judge.

I predict he will be on Gone Country 4

Kath McPhee signs to another major label, the only runner-up!
hope she makes it!
btw, clay aiken is expected to be dropped, though.
he's not selling that much anymore.

Jordin is successful ... She isn't selling 2-3 million albums because it's 2008-2009. If she released when Carrie or Kelly released their debuts, she would have sold around 2-3 million. All her singles went platinum and top 20. Try again.

And Jive rarely drops an artist. Nick Lachey, anyone? He's with Jive, and sells virtually nothing. If Jordin or Archie were with RCA, they would be toast. But they're not, thank god.

First off, no one told you to read it . And second "we" as in some people is right .. but "we" as in everyone is not correct. Clearly the person who I was just talking to doesnt think she is successful. Thats why I stated a couple of her highlights of 2008.

IMO RCA is dead. Their are a couple successful artists from that label and I will not be surprised if they venture out to a new label in the next few years. Anyone else notice that Zoma[Jive/Laface/etc.] & Island Def Jam are starting to be come alot more popular latley and are beginning to give us alot of new successful great artists? It used to be like Artist, RCA, Columbia etc. who were the labels everyone wanted to get on.

The problem with saying who is or isn't 'done' is that most of the Idols haven't been out long enough for us to know yet. Anyone from season five on only has one album so until we see how the second album does (or until we see that they got dropped before making it to the second album) it really can't be called.
Also, the Davids are the first two to sign to a label under the new CEO (Barry Weiss). His opinion regarding how Idols should perform may be different from Clive Davis'...Clive dropped Bo for "only" selling 800K with just one single, but these days it would be dumb as hell to do something like that. (I thought it was dumb even back then too.) So Archie is probably good with Jive, for now. I've been hearing for a few years now that RCA is *thisclose* to folding and sending their few successful artists to another Sony/BMG label. I won't be surprised if it one day happens.
Sidenote, I don't consider Fantasia a flop yet, really. She'll probably never be a huge mainstream success but within her genre a gold album (which is what the second one did) is about par for the course for mid-level r&b artists.

I wouldn't be suprised either. But his album and single(1st one) is not a flop. I think ALTNOY will be added in Z100 so let's find out if this will flop.
Anyways, whatever! Clay deserves to be dropped.

A Little is already dead and flopped. Turn it over, it is cooked and done with .. time to add a new steak to the grill.
