do you feel safe as a person of color?
or do you feel like your uncomfortable in certain places, around certain ppl perhaps? do you feel worried that you may not be given the same chances in life that a white person may get?

like my friend spoke to me of his very real fear of possibly never getting a job in his field. he is doing something in nuclear sciences and he is of middle eastern descent so he is worried because he has cousins who graduated for the same program with flying colors (grades) yet are still un employed.

I do feel safe, in the hood and in the city so.

Your friend cousins probably just don't look hard enough, they don't just hand the job to you most of the time.

Safe, in the work field? No. I feel like I have to work 100 times harder for my position in my company than others. I feel invisible and disposable even when I am by far the least disposable person in the company, after the CEO.

I can't dick around like everyone else. When the rest of the execs wants to party and dick around and do questionable things I'm afraid to join. If they **** up, they have established parents to lean on. They get a criminal record, they are fine and it won't matter as much. But if I get caught with drugs or anything I'm ****ed for life no joke.

I do feel that I stick out as a POC in my field and it helps me in some ways, but the bigger problems are still there.

I honestly feel uncomfortable around older, white individuals. I have learned to assert myself without seeming rude

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I mean, I feel like I have to work three times as hard as my other counterparts, though. I also feel like I'm being tested at work every now and again. Idk, it weird. Could be paranoia.

omg I swear I wanna give you a big hug...its just so unfair when i hear things like this.
you gotta work so much harder yet not get recognized for all the effort..working hard not to get higher in your field but to actually just secure your position..my moms friend is from Haiti and she literally had to work all her life to finally feel safe in her job when she was 50..thats when she felt secure enough to purchase her home and not be fired and deal with a morgage unemployed! whilst most ppl get comfy at like 35

Yes. I've personally never struggled because of my race but then I'm aware my life and experience are not necessarily equivalent to everyone elses.

Yes. Although, I do hear that it is different for people like me who have a lighter skin tone. Being a (somewhat) intelligent guy, I've grown accustomed to being the only POC in all of my advanced courses; I'm usually the only one in the room. If I'm being honest, I feel most uncomfortable around people of my own race than anyone else.
