It's been this way for over a decade though... lol. There's literally nothing they can do. As long as movies are released on Blu-ray and DVD, and even through places like iTunes, it will never end. No amount of DRM could prevent pirating because there will always be demand for it and hackers will always despise the movie industry.

It doesn't matter how much the movie costs. If they made digital rentals a dollar, that would help somewhat, but many people won't settle for less than free. An ad-based website like Hulu would work, playing ads between each scene, but that's probably not profitable enough for the movie industry.
