Idk, I just cannot get into Gwen Stefani this era, with whatever half-baked and last minute singles she's releasing and hoping one of them sticks. I am not here for her performing Hollaback Pharrell every opportunity she gets instead of focusing on crafting a really good single that shows she's spent a lot of time working on her music.
This also kinda sealed the deal for me. Love Gwen, but this is so cringeworthy:
Gwen has always thrown out singles and looked to see what sticks tho. Lmao.
Maybe, but it's never been more obvious than now, especially with the green screen videos and her just lackadaisically walking in front of the camera. Also randomly dying the tips of her hair black to appear edgy. I'm just not buying any of it
She's trying to appeal to the same people that used her yearsss ago. The new generations isn't aware of her and she hasn't done anything terribly spectacular compared to the other pop girls
You definitely can take a break for too long. If you genuinely completely lose your market, and your name hasn't been around for an indefinite length of time, then the next generation of teenagers (the age group which make things 'cool' in the first place) just dont care anymore.
I feel like she doesn't care. You can definitely tell from the fact that she made such a weak song. She had a lot more energy and creativity, but now she's just re-hashing Target commercials instead of actually wanting to do some damage.
Baby Dont Lie is good but has poor replay value. Spark The Fire has a promising chorus, but everything else in the song is just unlistenable. I didnt want to think about this, but im almost 100% sure this was a forced project by Interscope. Same with Fergie, but hers feels like a natural transition. Either way, with Gaga underperforming and soon taking a break, i think they are just desperate to have a successful artist to take her place, and they are clearly struggling to find it! If Selena Gomez and Carly Rae Jepsen dont succeed, we will really know to what point Interscope´s desperation is capable to go!
