@ all the Rita stans coming for me. The difference between Rita and the ones in my sig who don't write all their own music is that they don't mix business with pleasure and then get mad when **** hits the fan. Calvin is perfectly within his rights to take back the song that he wrote and produced by himself for whatever reason. It's Rita/her label's fault for not securing all of the necessary rights to the song in the first place.

If my ex did me dirty, I wouldn't want them to be profiting off of my hard work either. Calvin doesn't need Rita to sing on his track for it to be successful. She's just a voice that could have been replaced by any other singer, yet he was still kind enough to let her record and release the song because they were dating at the time. I'm sure Rita will be fine. She can find another producer to get tracks from, and hopefully she'll think twice before playing with someone's heart next time.

Lol at you really believing that he had anything to do with the scrapping of her album, Rita had enough material to fill up the tracks he took from her.
However perhaps her break up with him changed the direction of the album,which in my opinion is a blessing,i have had enough of generic sounding pop trash from her,hopefully her label allows her to release songs she recorded with non main stream producers she's worked with and the music is better this time around.

Please point out where I backtracked. I'll wait. My whole stance on every Rita vs. Calvin thread since the beginning has been the same. Rita has a fine voice and she seems like a nice enough girl in interviews, but people need to stop acting like Calvin is Satan here. There are always two sides to every story and the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but I highly doubt he would stop her from using the song if she hadn't done something real messed up to him during the breakup. It wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Either way, idgaf what the reason for their breakup was or who was the agressor. The point is that Rita and her label didn't secure the necessary rights to allow her to use the song free of Calvin's input, like they should have. Otherwise, this wouldn't even be an issue because Calvin wouldn't have the legal capacity to block her from performing the song. At the end of the day, if Rita had actually contributed to the writing/production process herself then this wouldn't be an issue because they would both own legal rights to the song.

That's not the case though. So stop acting like Calvin is some demon for taking back control over his hard work. He was not wrong. Petty? Sure, maybe. But wrong, no. Also, Calvin had nothing to do with Rita's album being scrapped. He had like what? Two, maybe three songs on her album? You all should be coming for Rita's label if anything.
