Why do you assume its about Madonna? Isn't that "self shade" for you to think of her right away?

Gaga did her own song "Vanity" before, so I doubt this has anything to do with Xtina although I would probably like that.

She did say this new album would be about her operating on her old self as a cadaver or whatnot, so perhaps the "your heart is filled with vanity" is referring to her old self when she first entered the pop music industry during The Fame era and everything was more driven by vanity and image, rather than the rather insane acid trip that ARTPOP was driven by only to be followed up by the complete opposite in Cheek to Cheek.

Of course, the "your heart is filled with vanity" could also refer to 90% of current popstars and old hitmakers who can't seem to keep Gaga off their tongues.


Either way, her Instagram captions have been on point lately and these lyrics sound fantastic.
