I have always wondered why so many people are on ATRL.

As a Psychology major, I am interested in why people spend so much time online, or on ATRL. A lot of you are in online competitions (on ATRL), and have created this online, ATRL persona for yourselves. From what I've seen, some of you are really living their life on ATRL, and forgetting about reality. I am genuinely interested as to why people on ATRL, are you here for the music? Or for different reasons?

I, personally, am here to fill up some kind of void I sometimes feel in my daily life. Also, it's easier to be yourself (/say what you want to say) online than it is in real life.

My question to you: have you created an ATRL persona on here, that doesn't correspond with the way you present yourself in real life? Why are you on ATRL? Genuine interest, no shade intended.

Music is my biggest passion in life, and that's what this forum is about. I also love the ATRL slang, and I like most of the members on here.

I'm bored.

I closed my social sites so I go on forums and look at the stupid **** people say through comments cos they're e-thugging.

Boredom and to keep up with pop culture

It used to be because I loved talking about music, charts, sales, legend status, etc but I'm not interested anymore

Now I'm here because of socializing with friends in RT or on my walls and discovering new music, finding out about leaks, when new CDs drop, and small things like that

I'm here because I like to know about music and celebrity news. I was never aware of how huge the competition between stans were before joining ATRL.
I also like some discussions here and to witness different POVs. I find it cool. I sometimes avoid clicking some threads or replying to someone because I'm not a conflicting person, but putting that aside, I think this is a cool place to know about people and how they act.

My persona here is a reflection of who I am in real life, so I'm not that different.
I would also like to know some people here, I think some discussions would be really nice like with Eternium or Truth Teller.

I think most of the things I've said on here align with my real-life personality, granted I've said some outrageous/silly things. The only exception to that is when I'm aimlessly trolling celebrities or having even slightly viscous digs at other members.

I'm here because ATRL is a great source for pop music updates, way to meet awesome people you wouldn't usually meet in real life and place to actually be yourself in a cool, unique culture (I guess).

im here because im obsessed with pop culture also bcz i have no one to talk to about the things i usually talk about on here so thats why im on atrl.

When you guys say you're bored, doesn't that mean you are here to fill up a void? Kinda like I am.

I initially registered because I wanted to discuss any news related to the mysterious Born This Way campaign before it was properly announced or released.

Now really only because some members with whom I have no connection outside make me want to stay a little longer. I have some great discussions about all kinds of topics with a few people here. The number shrinks everyday but yeah.

Music is a very big part of my life and the drags on here provide me with a kii or 2 a day

Will back then it was because of TRL and I wanted to part of an online community. Before ATRL, I've been on other forums. MTV had a forum and I also been on the forums of IMDB.com But ATRL is the one forum that I stuck with and I'm still posting 8 years later which I never thought I would still be here.

This is the only place in my life I can talk about pop music with people that understand.
