Grammy-winning rapper Lil' Wayne's rock-based album The Rebirth has been pushed back a month from its initial release date this spring.
The highly-anticipated solo project will drop as summer 2009 approaches.
Weezy has pushed back the release date of his rock-and-roll LP Rebirth from April 7 to May 19. The video for the album's first single, "Prom Queen," however, has been shot and should be released soon. In addition to Rebirth, Wayne is still working on Tha Carter IV, the Hot Boys reunion LP and an album featuring all the artists on his Young Money label, including Mack Maine, Jae Millz, Kid Kid and Nicki Minaj. He should just scrap this project all together. "Prom Queen" bombed on radio, so it's not like any other rock single will fare better. Also, being a huge Lil Wayne fan, I was surprised at how terrible "Prom Queen" is. Just bring on Tha Carter IV.
i love lil wayne...lollipop, got money, a milli were all pure love.....but i HATE prom queen. i think the rock thing could have worked; i thought he pulled off the cameo in kevin rudolf''s let it rock amazingly. But he needed a fantastic lead single to prove all the sceptics wrong, which he hasnt done, he's just lost some fans in my opinion. And this project will have probably delayed Tha Carter IV.
No "Prom Queen" is not rising. Understandable. Either they are waiting for it to explode and hope for those Summer sales, or a new single(s) will come.
^ His next single should be him rapping over a rock beat a la "Party Like A Rockstar" or his verse on "Let It Rock".
See, when I got the news of his new album being Rock, I was kind of expecting the first single to be like LIR, but that wasn't the case. PQ is just atrocious and he needs to release a better song for the next single.

Exactly! I think everybody had the same initial reaction. He should have gone a more direct rock route instead of going for a hip-hop Kurt Cobain sound. I respect the fact that he's challenging himself to expand musically, but he needs to do it right and not half-assed. He's a great lyricist in rap, but why'd he cop to high school emo lyrics for the rock song? And he needs to drop the auto-tune!
