I'm only taking one CS subject class in my time at my school, and it's for my Information Systems major (which focuses more on databases and networks), but HTML and CSS are absolutely essential for the field in which I want to work (digital marketing). See, I want to work
here - they're an amazing company with great people, but if you look through their site, you'll notice that one thing they offer is a full course on digital marketing like SEO, analytics, and such. One of their managers, Melissa Harden, spoke with me directly at an event that my university held and talked a lot about how NONE of the Marketing majors she hires from any college know any coding, which is essential for her specialty (SEO) - that's what their course is for, essentially teaching this coding to their new employees and to outsiders who need the material. So, even though I'm triple majoring in Marketing, Information Systems, and Data Analytics which are all incredibly useful for a digital marketing career, learning HTML, CSS, and eventually some other important programming things is essential to being successful and having the full toolkit for my career.
