I'm working on one right now - I've been gathering ideas and planning it ever since I was like 17 (I'm 20 now). It took me so long to really get all the ideas together and though it started as a silly teen supernatural romance, it's really blossomed into this rich mythological series. Only in the past year or so, all the ideas really came together and I started really writing it this last year. It's more or less done, but I would like to review it - I do plan on becoming a real published author.
Most of the stuff I write, I really have this tendency to approach fiction with the perspective of a female - I really feel like there needs to be more lead female characters out there and I always end up in supernatural fiction. It's what I liked growing up, I was obsessed with vampires and all sorts of different supernatural things as I grew up. My favorite show is The Vampire Diaries and when Twilight came out, even though it wasn't really well written, it was right up my alley! I'm really obsessed with writing in general, I want it to be my career. JK Rowling is my role model.
It is very exciting and fulfilling and given that I have a stable, well-paying job, I don't feel the pressure of deadlines or anything like that. Definitely something I have always wanted to do, but only at this current point in my life has it really worked out in a way that I have the right work ethic and creative inspiration. It has been a great experience so far and I will continue to write and hope that people enjoy my stuff. I am even working with a couple of people on adapting one of the short stories to a screenplay.
