I did wonder why nobody had anything to say about Drake being a Canadian Actor who probs didn't know the struggle of the streets portion of hip hop people like to put emphasis on but that's neither here nor there.
The stan war is so banal to me at this point, I'm way over it.
The discussion about Iggy, not just specifically about her, but about its reflection on society and cultural appropriation is still interesting to me. But I feel like enough has been said about it the past couple of days. ATRL making a thread about every little tweet is just trivializing the issue back to the stupid stan war, and I'm sleep. Can we resume when there's a new development like

Plenty of people said something. You never seen the "Drake Be Like"/"Wheelchair Jimmy"/"Drake The Type" memes? Remember when every other rapper came for him when he was doing those R&B ballads then rapping like he grew up in the hood?
Drake benefits from being half-white/his Canadian & Jewish background almost as much as any those white rappers.

When people are co-signing KREAYSHAWN of all people, then this debate calling out cultural appropriation becomes just plain bandwagon hate. I thought it was ridiculous for her to even speak on Iggy, and I found it even more ridiculous that people would co-sign that. Her whole act is a parody of Hip Hop.

I never paid attention to Drake since he threw that bottle at my bby head.
That's what I wanna say when people use those "trash" hood rappers
as examples of hypocrisy when it comes to not using Iggz
Hip-Hop really is such a fascinating genre
Lemme watch this Art of Rap documentary I've been meaning to see on Netflix

I mean I just got a laugh from that tweet about not knowing how to spell Australia lol,
but Kreayshawn really did need to pipe down.

Then on the flip side, he sings softly in 80% of his music. The only song I think he deserved the clap back from, which was the only one he really got it about, was Started From The Bottom.
And still, that's a bloody good song. He writes fantastic lyrics.
So what I'm saying is. Race and culture aside, Drake participates in hip hop and does a damn good job at it. He's a hip hop artist and he lives it, now at least.
Drake got heat for songs like Wu-Tang Forever (turning a Wu-Tang song into a love ballad lol), Headlines (the caught a body line) and just plain in general for like his first 2 albums and his mixtapes. Honestly outside of being softer than baby ****, a lot of that stuff is pretty damn trivial to get a fuss over.
Drake has gotten dope over the last year and a half though.
And speaking of Lupe and Drake, there was that one time when Lupe had to stop Drake from getting in a fight in Chicago a couple years ago.

This is not true about Iggy. She is not good at hip hop, she does not write her own music, she does not participate in the culture outside of necessity for her career. It was simply a rebound from a failed pop career. Yet she's being lauded, awarded, and afforded opportunites that took Nicki Minaj 3 eras to. For me she does not deserve respect, and the awards she's receiving for those reasons, not because of the color of her skin.
I actually think Macklemore is talented, and I like country bumpkin Lil Debbie, outside of the ratchets video.
Iggy hasnt even sold like 1/10th of what Nicki's first (of hell, even 2nd) album has done. We've known that award shows aint **** when iit comes to hip hop either, otherwise Nas would have a room full of em. She is a non issue in that regard. Nicki got an AI gig when she cant sing a lick. Nicki BEEN out here profiting off being mediocre. Iggy's has some older cuts I mess with, but her album is wack juice and in the same vein as folks like 3OH!3 lmao. She is not worth the effort to be fighting down like that IMO. If Eminem can still prosper after freestyling about how black women aint ****...
maybe its because what Muricans call "cultural appropriations and disrespect" is what we call "the consequences of living in a society with many cultures" that I cant understand.
Like KFC is deeply ingrained in the culture here and it's American lmao.
