I honestly thought Lana could never outdo Born To Die, but Ultraviolence proved me wrong. I can't stop listening to it months after it's release. It's unfortunate that the Guardian story overshadowed the album for some time because this album is truly amazing! I'm sad that Lana feels this way :/
Ultraviolence, Lp1, and Aquarius where brilliant albums. Lana is such a great artist, and the Grammys totally blew it by not recognizing her impact on the industry
I like the album, I generally like Lana Del Rey, but some of the things she says really irks me including this statement. I think she likes to blame others for her problems and victimize herself and no one seems to really call it out. Granted, I think journalists do frame questions a certain way to get certain responses but you know you cant act like you're so...idk...intellectual and above everything and then turn around and kind of whine like a privileged brat that you were somehow manipulated and didn't mean to say certain things when you clearly try to present a certain kind of image. I like her generally, but I think she lacks integrity and I think next to no one on here acknowledges that.
Good for her for realizing it. I loved a few songs on Ultraviolence but I thought it really paled in comparison to BTD. Hopefully the next album is better.

Go back to gaga base and listen to YOUR album of year that is artpop.
"I’d say unusual. I’ve been messing up everything: I toured, from april to june, before releasing the album, and then I did absolutely nothing. I was really happy with how Ultraviolence sounded; but now when I hear it again, I start thinking about hunches I got when I still was writing the songs. These things make me think I went too far. I’ve been in some awful situations, you know, situations that I couldn’t control, that I didn’t even want to create. Especially with journalists, the one from Rolling Stone and the one from the Guardian, and all the others who were always asking me the same goddamn questions… “Do you really wish you were dead?”, “Did you **** with someone in the industry?” Obviously, when I wrote tracks like ****ed My Way Up To The Top, I knew such kind of things would happen, and I should have simply answered “no”, I should have moved on. "
Lana don't worry as a songwriter you are a light weight. If you want to hear "going too far" get a copy of Amy Winehouse's 'Back To Black' CD. After hearing Amy sing about binge drinking, smoking crack, cheating on all of her boyfriends and lying to stay out of rehab (which caused her death) you will realize you were not "too far" out. Next time don't walk away from the project as if it doesn't exist.

She's talking lyrically...If people want BTD then they should go listen to BTD. From the sound of it her next album will be a completely new sounds like UV.
