DETROIT (WJBK) - A woman collapsed and died at a school's holiday concert as her daughter is singing.
"When she started singing I said, Oh my God, I started nudging her," said Rosie Peterson. "'Tash, listen to how our baby's singing.' And she didn't respond."
Peterson and her granddaughter Tequoia Alexander, or Tasha as she was known, were sitting in the Mumford High School auditorium. watching Tequoia's daughter Lanaya sing a solo during the school's Christmas concert Tuesday.
That's when the 39-year-old mother of three became unresponsive.
"I looked at her and she had this funny expression on her face," Peterson said. "And I said 'Tasha, Tasha' and then her head went back and I just lost it."
Peterson called 911 as concert goers tried to revive Tequoia. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
