There was no black culture at the time. There was African cultures. Travel was too primitive for anyone back then to even ever see a white person in their life, and the same for whites with blacks. The scale was so small that cultures varied within miles. Culture was completely based on geography then, while now its based on a variety of factors such as geography, nationality, race, and even age.
