"After the alleged incident the phones exploded," said evening personality Java Joel. "It's all that people wanted to talk about. They were outraged at this alleged behavior and wondered why we were continuing to support his music. I agreed and immediately pulled all Chris Brown songs from my show until this thing shakes out in the legal system."
"His listeners have strong feelings about these unfortunate events, and he made the decision to take the Chris Brown songs off the radio while he is on the air. I then made the decision to rid the whole station of Chris Brown songs while this plays out," said Program Director Bo Matthews.

I can't verify that it's true but I've heard that TI has been known to hit Tiny (his girlfriend), so I can't really say I'm surprised. I've also heard that a lot of the rappers/hip-hop producers are siding with Chris and even giving him props, really pathetic. Someone said Jay-Z looked visibly upset on the Grammy red carpet though. Wonder if he'll ever release a statement.
This is only my observation but it seems that the mainstream media is Team Rihanna. It's the urban community where I've seen more of a split, specifically the comments on some black message boards like Bossip, Sandra Rose, etc. Some are team RiRi, but it's crazy to see how many black women are willing to side with Chris and try to come up with all kinds of excuses and scenarios where Ri probably "provoked" him. I'm sitting there like "and if it were YOU, you'd think it was okay that he just totally ****ed up your face? If that were your sister you'd cosign on her getting an asswhooping?" I love my sisters, but goodness, are we really so used to being devalued and treated like **** that it's come to us believing we deserve it now?
Anyway, b/c of that, I'm not sure how this will effect his career, I personally think his whole career should die pronto, but it looks like he'll still sell in the urban community while his mainstream/pop fans will wash their hands of him.

The industry has never been a bastion of morality, it's all about money. Someone said earlier that if it was some unknown girl a lot less people would care about the victim, and that is sadly true (see R. Kelly). That is why rap still gets played, the lyrics are mostly garbage and so many rappers stay in trouble, but it still makes money so the labels don't care.
This situation is unique in that you have TWO celebrities, with pretty much equal star power (in the US anyway, Rihanna is bigger worldwide like someone else said) so I guess when all things are equal on the monetary front they go with what's right. Or they just wait for it all to blow over and hope everyone's sort of forgotten when Chris drops his next album.

Maybe Chris beat up RIhanna because Rihanna was his biggest competition!

Kanye West has spoken out about the alleged domestic violence incident involving Chris Brown and Rihanna – someone the rap star refers to as his “baby sis.”
During an interview on Tuesday morning on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on LA’s 102.7 KIIS-FM, Kayne said he had seen Rihanna and Chris Saturday night at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party and that news of their alleged violence cast a dark cloud over the Grammys for the rapper.
“I feel like that’s my baby sis and I would do anything and everything to help her in any situation… I was completely devastated by the concept of what I heard,” Kanye told Ryan. “I was at the beginning of the ‘American Boy’ performance [with Estelle] when I really heard, when it kind of got cleared up, of what might have happened, and I was doing ‘American Boy’ and I was completely devastated during the performance.
“Rihanna is so important to our culture … to pop music,” he continued. “I feel like she is the most important artist in music and has the most potential. Her taste level and her age … she has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time.”
Ryan asked if he had reached out to Rihanna following the news.
“I don’t want to speak like more into the specifics… with that situation, but all I’m gonna say is it’s so, it’s just so devastating,” Kanye added. “I feel like, just as a person I don’t care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald’s that should never happen, it should never come to that, to that place.”

Chris got TI, Rih got Kanye. This is so gonna divide the hip hop industry, alot of their peers are linked to BOTH of them in some way so its gonna be interesting to see what happens. I mean, Rihanna has a song with TI, Chris just shot a movie with him. Kanye did a song with Chris & he did a song with Rihanna & both of them were on his tour. And then theres Neyo who's also close to both of them...

I had a feeling this would happen. I'm sure more and more stations are going to remove him as time progresses.

I don't think we're going to hear too many comments from anyone in the music industry on this. I'm sure that no one wants to get in the middle of this, because unlike what usually happens, this is two MAJOR celebrities.

I'm still in shock about that, Rihanna is like a godness in this era (Not as godness as Brit course) but she's been like one of the best artist from the last years and see things like that are really sad, I hope that she's ok, and Chris Brown has really dissapointed me, he really did.

LMAO. This is getting out of hand. I mean--I understand, he's dealing with the consequences of his actions (beating the dog **** out of Pon De Forehead) but when Clifford (who's about 3 weeks from that jail sentence) and Kanye (bi-sexual ****star and ego-maniac) feel the need to speak on a situation that has nothing to do with them to stay relevant in the press, something in the milk ain't clean
Rihanna best artist of all time? Didn't he just say some **** like that about Beyonce a few weeks ago? Let me get a new avatar....ASAP

Chris Brown's Letter To Beyonceitis (fake, duh)
Quote:
Dear Wig Crypt,
I have been a loyal reader of your blog for about 2 years. I am writing you because so seem smart and you know a couple of big words and you know how to read and stuff. Congratulations. The reason I am writing is because I am in a very bad situation and I need some advice. This weekend I was involved in what my lawyer calls "an unfortunate altercation" and my grandmother calls "simple-ass ***** ****" Me and my girlfriend got into an argument, and I kinda blacked out and I don't remember a lot of it but apparently I physically attacked her. Of course if I could I would take this back but I can't. I am wondering how Cranking That Ike Turner will affect my life? Is my career over? How will I get through this?
The reason I am asking you is because your blog and website centers around artists who have had their careers killed by Beyonce so I figure you would be the expert on dying careers. How do I get through this?
Please help.
Signed,
Love Lockdown
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Love Lockdown,
I'm sure a lot of things are running through your mind.
Is my life ruined?
How do I get out of this mess?
Will I be sent to prison and forced to walk around a cell with my ass hanging out?
The truth is I really don't know. While most people may not be able to relate to this specific incident, most of us have been in situations where our character has been questioned and it's easy to pass judgement especially if we only know one side of the story.
No matter what hardships I am going through I have found that 3 things will help.
Here are those 3 things:
#1 Your Stans.
I have a Ph.D. in stanology and after studying Beyonce and Janet stans for the past 12 years I have found that stans will fight for you no matter how bad things get. They will write petitions, pay for your lawyers, and they will be at the courthouse at 7AM in the freezing cold, passing out hot coffee and grits. Never underestimate the devotion of your stans.
Even if there were HD-quality video of you doing the A-Town stomp on your girlfriend your stans will REFUSE to believe that it was you. There was video of somebody who looked a lot like R. Kelly taking a piss on somebody who looked a lot like a 12 year old, yet he was found not guilty on all charges and is free to roam junior high school parking lots.
Stans will argue for you even if you are dead ass wrong. If Beyonce were accused of shooting a bitch point blank in the face, her stans would say that the bitch shouldn't have been in the way.
Kind of extreme yes, but I think you get my point. Your stans think you're a saint. That can be annoying sometimes but you begin to appreciate it when the rest of the world think you're the devil.
#2. Music
Music will help you through. Sometimes when life stresses you out, getting lost in a good song is great therapy. So put your iPod on and just drift away, but please delete the following songs:
"Oops Upside Your Head" by the Gap Band
"Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas
"Love TKO" by Teddy Pendergrass.
"I'll Beat Yo' Ass" Crime Mob [1]
"Stomp" by Young Buck
"Slap" by Ludacris
"Attack Me With Your Love" by Cameo
#3 Yourself.
The most difficult thing in the world is to have a one negative moment define who you are for the rest of your life, but the sad reality is that there are thousands of men in prison in jail for life because of a couple of seconds of bad judgement.
People are going to call you all kinds of things and portray you as an angry woman-beating monster. To get through that you have to know yourself well enough to know that other people's labels shouldn't define who you are. On the flipside, you should also be man enough to step outside yourself and admit when you're wrong and realize whether or not you need to seek help.
Although I don't condone violence against women (especially women without a switchblade or razor to defend themselves) I understand that sometimes our tempers get the best of us and there is always another side to the story. People like things to be black and white, but more often than not our lives tend fall into gray areas.
Is your career over?
No.
Well, to clarify it's not over in the sense that you'll have to move back to your hometown and work at Target, but you may have to start over. I don't want your career to be over, because for me to want your career to be over means that I want you to lost your job, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody during this recession and if everybody's jobs were based on mistakes they made in their personal lives there would be a lot of unemployed mofos in the street right.
Starting over may be hard, but it'll make you more humble and more appreciative since now you know you can lose it quickly. It may take some time, but you can look at it as a blessing. Everybody deserves a 2nd chance, but not everyone gets one.

T.I. wasn't caught with anything, he was caught in the act of purchasing, and there's no indication that they were going to be used to hurt anyone, unless you have that proof. I don't support him for those actions though. As for your radio business, that incident was in 2007, long before he started to do community service and rebuild a somewhat healthy image for his late 2008 releases, plus he is a RAPPER. 90% of rappers have all kinds of drug arrests, DUIs, abuse, possession of a weapon, etc. That's usually what majority of their songs consist of anyways, but because of a catchy hook it goes by unnoticed. Even Lil Wayne still has pending cases for several incidents and you see him with the best selling album of 2008.
It's still true people should wake up and not support such actions, but in reality and how it has ALWAYS been, rappers aren't looked at the same way as a singer. Mainly because someone like Chris has a lot more mainstream and young fans, and again he's a singer. You don't associate such acts with a singer as you would a rapper.
But seriously, T.I. needs to shut his mouth. His ass is about to go to jail for 1 year, so he really shouldn't be talking. That just fuels the bad influence. It's obvious Rihanna's in pain, but he's supporting Chris.

I expected much more from T.I.
Anyway my heart goes out to Rihanna and I hope she has a speedy recovery.
This is all still really shocking. I'm never gonna look at Chris the same. Even if Rihanna some how drove him to hit her there was absolutely no reason why she should be with bruises, bite marks, etc.
I'm really instrested to see what other hip hop artists/producers have to say about this ...

I know it sounds terrible but I really wanna see pictures of Rihanna. It would be interesting to see how severe the injuries are and it would put it into perspective.
I think most people, including myself, imagined it was a single attack e.g. a punch but now that reports are claiming she has multiple injuries all over her body and face makes it sound like it was a really serious beatdown.
Either way I will be glad to see Chris Brown's career die. Has he got any other endorsements to be dropped from? I wish he had a single out at the moment so we could see it fall of the charts due to the radio stations "ban" on his music.

^Not funny.
I'd sure hate to see how y'all react when Beyonce gets her comeuppance one of these days, because she's long overdue. She's never said anything bad about Ri so I'm not knocking her, but I find it hilarious how you all think if Chris tried this on Bey he would have got his ass whooped; as if Ri is somehow inferior because she submitted to his abuse. I bet Beyonce couldn't hold her own against Jay though, not that I wish this kind of misfortune on her, I just think you're all the lowest types of people to be exploiting an incident like this for the sake of ego.
