I think bandwagons exist because people "build" and "ride" them together. What I mean by that is, a lot of people on ATRL seem to think bandwagonning is like this peer pressure type thing. Where they see one user (or a bunch of users) sharing an opinion, and then they decide to "jump on the bandwagon" and have that opinion as well.
People don't seem to consider the fact that maybe, just maybe, that's genuinely their opinion. Maybe there is no "bandwagon." Maybe it's just a commonly held opinion? A good example would be ARTPOP. A lot of monsters think that people saw there was this "Gaga hate bandwagon" growing and decided to jump on. Or they saw that she was underperforming and went on the attack. No one's ever really considered that maybe a lot of people were just disappointed in the album, and that's why there's a "bandwagon" to even jump on in the first place. Because, like I said, people build and ride the bandwagon together. A consensus is created by a lot of individual opinions
