Considering gun related deaths dropped dramatically when gun laws were brought into Australia but it is him trying to go against the popular opinion and seem controversial when he actually makes hismelf out to be some redneck from the south.

I don't want to live in a country where **** like this happens all the time because everyone has access to weapons.
This is literally the first major incident like this that Australia has had in a long time.
It's literally why it made such massive news. No one expected it, because it never happens.
No Australian wants that to change, when every mentally unstable person has access to cause events like this.

The hostages were tired, but having a shotgun pointed at you has a way of keeping you alert. As the terrorist nodded off, the hostages ran for the door and safety -- but not all of them.
One man charged the terrorist. Tori Johnson was 34. He managed the Lindt Chocolate Café for two years. Employees and customers all said he was a good man, a kind man. He was also a gay man.
Johnson tried to take the gun to protect the other hostages as they fled, but he was shot in the attempt. His attack distracted the terrorist. The others escaped and the sound of the gunshot brought in the police, who killed the armed man. Another hostage also died on the scene, but of a heart attack on the way to hospital after being shot.
Sorry to bring this sad topic up once more, but this event was literally the most horrifying and heartbreaking thing I've ever seen on live TV. I continued watching until the very end and it is devastating that those two innocent hostages lost their lives. The look of terror mixed with relief on the faces of the hostages that esccaped gave me chills.
And no, changing the gun laws is exactly what we don't need. It's the reason why Australai has not had many of these incidents before.
