Also excited by the fact that I will know this countdown will not feature any country music whatsoever
(I'm content knowing this now as opposed to hoping for the unhopable...that wasn't a real word lmao)
40. The Heart Wants What It Wants - Selena Gomez Video: Blurb: I loved this song from the first listen. The instrumental is flawless and the vocals are a definite improvement. I love the soft bridge, too. It's a nice change from most bridges. Selena shows improvement and growth and makes a respectable pop ballad.
39. Oil & Water - LIGHTS Video: Blurb: The first of many tracks to make this list from LIGHTS' latest release
"Little Machines". Lyrically, it is a massive difference from what I expect from her. Sonically, it's a growth and showcases her many talents. The bridge is what makes this song for me. There is nothing about this song I don't like, though.
38. Silhouette (Latin Skin) - Seahaven Video: Blurb: I know y'all will pay this gem dust, but this one of the best pop punk songs of 2014, IMO. The vocals progress as the song does. This is just the first time Seahaven will appear on this list. This was a great year for the band!
37. Bind Your Love - Cher Lloyd Video: Blurb: An instant favorite of mine from "Sorry I'm Late", but not the last time Cher will make the list. This song just feels like an instant anthem and I would listen to this on repeat when it first came out for so many hours. Even though it didn't end up my favorite song off the album, it is my most played.
36. Skulls - Bastille Video: Blurb: This song is so ****ing good. It's one of Bastille's pinnacle songs production-wise. I also love the deeper register he uses throughout the song. This song is on the morbid side, but I think that this is what makes it so good.
35. We In This Bitch - Iggy Azalea Video: Blurb: When "Reclassified" was coming out and this was one of the new titles I immediately thought I wouldn't like the song cause I can usually tell if i'd like the song or not based on it's title. This was one instance where I ended up loving the song despite it's title. I love the rockier vibe she introduced with this song and I think the chorus is really catchy.
34. Running With The Boys - LIGHTS Video: Blurb: LIGHTS' second entry in the Top 40, and not her last, either! This song, instrumentally, is so "feel-good" and just makes me happy. The chorus is a little loud and noisy, but I've really grown fond of this song.
33. All You Had To Do Was Stay - Taylor Swift Video: N/A Blurb: While listening to the album for the first time through, this was my immediate favorite. I immediately loved how catchy it was and how easygoing the song was. Some people consider an "easy" song as a fault, but everyone needs an easy song to lift their spirits.
